Spring 2016 El Centro College/ NLC ADN

Published

I know that it's VERY early right now to start gearing up for the Spring 2016 admission but I thought I'd start this post early seeing as I have already started taking my final classes, preparing to take the Hesi A2 test and submitting all my other documents for the program. If all goes well, I will be between 30 and 34 points. How many points do you think you'll be at when it's time to apply for the 2016 spring entry? What's the lowest score that they have accepted for previous entries? Are there any single mothers, such as I, who will be applying for the nursing program? Hope to hear more from others who are getting ready to join. Would love to get lots of feedback!!!!!

Who told you they would honor the website? I was just told to contact the dean.

The dean is who I spoke with through email. Even though I got an automatic response she did email me back Saturday. I'm sure she's not responding now. I also went to the school and spoke with Dr. McPherson who is the executive today. Although she couldn't help me promised that they would honor what's on the website. Here is her response:

I will check the website as all was to be updated. If it was not changed then we will honor what is posted in the application packet for Spring

I have an appointment with her on Tuesday.

Does anyone else plan on doing the bridge program at UTA to complete the BSN right after this ADN program? You get automatically accepted there right?

That's my plan and that is what I have heard

hello Kelly4isabel. I hear rumors that extra credit is offer at this program. is that true? is it the program intensive? I got accepted to North Lake and Brookhaven, but I did failed fist semester at brookhave (with less than 1 point) and if I fail again, I am out I won't be accepted again. so, my question is. What is El Centro policy if you fail.

I'm in 3rd semester now. They only offer something extra if almost all the class fails a test is all I have seen and that was only one time in 2nd semester. I have never seen any extra credit. If you fail then you get one more chance if they let you get a spot. You may have to wait a semester if there aren't spots.

Is it true for the first semester textbooks cost a total of $3k and if so is there cheaper version of these textbooks. Thanks.

I'm in 3rd semester and I bought the book package last Fall that is ebooks and actual books and it was $1800. It was $1500 for only ebooks. I personally don't like the ebooks other than for when I'm at work or something and don't want to lug them all over. The actual books are much easier to navigate imo.

Hey all future nurses,

Congrats on all of your acceptances, but I have a quick question since I will most likely (hopefully) be applying for the program for Fall 2016. I am currently taking my first semester of prereqs at El Centro. So far I am taking Composition 1 and General Psychology and will take my Anatomy and Physiology next semester but I wanted some advice at how most of you got 30+ points? What all classes did you take to get points or what did you study for the Hesi A2? I'm really worried I will not get enough points in time to apply and will have to take one more year of additional courses. Please let me know what your degree plan looked like before you applied.

Thanks so much!!!

Sorry, it was a typo. I have 28 points.

If anyone was accepted to either El Centro or Northlake with 26 or 27 points, can you tell me what your HESI cumulative score was?

I had 27 points with a cumulative score of 436. When I received my rejection letter I noticed that I had only 26 points (1 point missing from my HESI math score). I emailed the Dean Sunday and received an email only saying "the points changed for Spring 2016". It is interesting that others were told the website will be honored because that is my main argument. My problem is that without the last accepted applicant score being listed in the letter I have no way of knowing if I would have been accepted. After all this I'm very skeptical of the number of points and HESI cumulative score that I will be told. This is so disappointing!

Do you have an appointment with Dr. McPherson or Ms. Becker? I have set up an appointment with Ms. Becker for Thursday (10/29) about this issue. Thank you for posting what Dr. McPherson said!

I'm very skeptical about this as well. They didn't post the points so they can tell us we didn't get in anyway. How wouid we know unless we know someone that got In personally with less points. What is written is what it should be. They didn't allow students the opportunity to retake the hesi if the new point system is actually going to make us lose points. So unorganized and inconsiderate. They are running a business they don't care about the students.
