Spring 2010 CSN ADN Program

U.S.A. Nevada

Just wondering, seeing how competitive i am.... How many are applying to Spring 2010 at CSN? And what is your score? If you don't feel comfortable telling your score, just say if you are applying. I have heard that there arent many applicants this semester but also heard to the contrary, there are LOTS of applicants this semester. So I'm confused and just wondering how many are applying? I know not nearly EVERYONE who applied goes on allnurses.com, but just out of those on here, I was wondering who applied for full time spring 2010. Thanks!

Specializes in ob/gyn med /surg.

i have friends who are teachers there and that is accurate with the number of qualified applicants... 209 at last count .. it's going to be pretty tight deicsion so many to choose from... lots of good grades and high points... don't give up to all who applied... keep the faith !!!

Anything else you can tell us, ohmeowzer? Like, how high are our points going to need to be to get in? And when are they going to call us? I don't want to miss my call!

Thanks, BTW! :)

Sorry you all are still waiting! I remember waiting for the phone call also but I imagine they are very close to calling you guys. I forget what the date was when I got the call last year but it was either the second last or last week of October. So hold on just a little more you are almost there!

Hey Everyone,

I heard its going to be a "few" days before the 29th that we get our calls!!

Specializes in ob/gyn med /surg.

can't give out anymore information.. just know it's a tight decision.. lots of good grades and high points... good luck everyone !! you will be fine !!

Hey rob! You hit it right on the head! You are so awesome.:coollook:

I am in the lab, doing my Nursing care plan for my group case study. I wish we had already turned it in like you did! You better be at the study session tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing you and picking your brain. I remember when we used to bs on here every day too. That was fun. Now its all work, work, work!

We are still out here, fall 09 nursing 101 students!

We lost two so far out of our clinical/lab group. :redpinkhe One left on her own, the other did not pass the math test; both of them were the most kind. :loveya:

Here is some info they do not tell you-- :yeah: you end up with the same small group of people for the entire semester. Around 8 students per lab/clinical, it is due to the lottery style of first semester accumulation of classes. Some people still have not let the 'competitive' side go, some are VERY catty. Yes, it sucks when you deal with them every day but you have no choice. And you have to work together on papers and patients in clinical. You just hope for maturity and civility, and pray for the semester to end soon! lol! It only takes one bad  apple to spoil the bunch... didn't your mom ever tell you? :angryfire

IDK why you all are so anxious to start working your tails off with no sleep. Rest now while you can. The pressure on this end is so high...:crying2:

I have been through another medical training program that was pretty intense but the pressure was a lot less there, maybe because it was predominantly male? :smokin: IDK. I have yet to figure it out.

Good luck. Sleep while you can...

:paw::paw::paw:

If you guys/gals have still yet to hear from CSN about whether you got in or not, I would like to be the first to congratulate those of you who were accepted. As far as the numbers go, not sure about over 200, that may have been the total number submitted? I do know that we, CSN NSNA, put flyers about our bake sale on November 6th, when you all have your first orientation!!!:yeah: We submitted 170 flyers and as far as I know, and I hope I don't get in trouble for saying this, the packets will start going out today, Friday, October 23rd.

With that being said, I would assume that they are going to be calling you starting today, or if they are really busy, on Monday. It really isn't a big deal if you miss the call, they will leave a message. I am excited for you all, because that means I will be one semester closer to graduating!!

Ok so here is the part that sucks. If you don't get in, there will be a decent size loss of students during week 7 with the math calculations test, as mia70 said, but you still won't get into the program. Vegas2009, you are correct, there are students in my class, particularly Pharmacology, that are on "learning contracts" and have to score a certain percentage on each of the next 2 tests as determined by our professor. They too will likely be the next victims, as much as I would hate to see that happen to them.

My advice to avoid worrying about failing once you get in though is this: take the toolbox for success class in the winter (assuming it's still offered) it is only about 4 or 5 weeks long and it is worth EVERY penny; when you start the program you will get a form from 101 that is called NCLEX test taking tips from University(this is crucial information) EVERY test you take in nursing school is an NCLEX style test. If you aren't familiar look it up on google and see what you can find. You can answer these questions strategically, and with the information you will know from reading, attending class, and extra studies you will be able to easily pass these tests.

As mia70 said, get your rest now, you will need it. If you are working a full time job, I would consider options to quit and get a loan, I was working full time and decided that school was more important for the next 2 years but I had that option. Good luck and make sure you post as soon as you find out you have been accepted!!

See you November 6th...make sure you bring cash with you to help support CSN NSNA. There will be breakfast items like bagels, and lunch items like BBQ pulled pork and pulled chicken, chips, soda, water, brownies, cookies and other yummy baked goods!!!

Rob

I still haven't gotten my call. Anyone else???

nope, but my phone will be with me today and monday at all times....

OMG! Rob you so crack me up! :smokin:

Listen up out there-- Joing the NSNA so you too can hang with Rob. He is super smart and knows what he is talking about...

The mailed notices come after the call. I got my call on a Tuesday,Wednesday or a Thursday in the spring of 09, I had just come out of my Micro 251 Lab and there was a message on my cell from RN program. But, maybe they do it different for the spring program. Then again, he could be right, I do not check my mail EVERY day. Now I cannot remember...

Fried. I am fried. My brain is mush. Not news I guess....

I too will see all of you at the new student orientation! Cash, bring cash! You will want to buy our goodies!

Wear cool comfortable clothes, that rooms thermostat is messed up, you boil with all those bodies in there! Well, that and you are racked with anxiety about your future, your SNS is on overdrive and those of you with chronic illnesses, your systems will really be out of whack!

:yeah:CONGRATULATIONS! You made it!

Your wait is almost over!!!

:paw::paw::paw:

Mia- It was a Tuesday. I'm a neurotic freak and I looked up what day we had that lab, lol. But... 2 day turn-over in mail is average, which means packets should arrive on Monday. Interesting. I wonder if they're going to try to call us on Monday since that's the earliest they will arrive. In any event, I'm going crazy waiting! I'm trying to focus in my classes but they are filler classes that don't apply to my degree and it's easy to lose focus when you're waiting for life-changing news like this!!! At least it's the weekend, we know we won't be called for 2 days, and we can all hopefully get some sleep!

See you November 6th...make sure you bring cash with you to help support CSN NSNA. There will be breakfast items like bagels, and lunch items like BBQ pulled pork and pulled chicken, chips, soda, water, brownies, cookies and other yummy baked goods!

Thanks rwbglock23 and mia70. Every bit of info really helps, since I don't know what to expect. Say, to both ya guys, will there be any hot dogs? Someone told me NSNA sells hot dogs? I can't remember if the snack bar sells them. :D :D
