Now that January is here, I thought I'd start a thread where we can support and encourage each other through our Spring semester, similar to our Fall thread, but with a bit more chit chat. What's your schedule look like? Any other goals you're working on?
I go back on the 17th, though I have a Phi Theta Kappa meeting on the 13th.
My schedule is:
A&P II
Microbio
Federal Government
World Religions
The last two are online.
Right now I'm trying to lose this holiday weight, so I've started running again (it burns). I graduate at the end of this year! In December I'll have my EMT-B certification and my Associates of Science in Biology. I'll also be applying to nursing school (application deadline is August 1), so it's going to be a really exciting (busy) year for me! I'm hoping to use my EMT-B cert to become an ED tech during the summers.
I look forward to chatting with you guys this semester!
Hi everybody! I thought I would check in, I have not been on AN for a few month due to being so busy with the nursing program. I started this semester and I only have 1 more week left! YAY I have been working full time as a CNA and going to school full time so its be very busy! I have the highest grade in my class and I will be taking a pump class in the summer to prep me for Med Surg second semester. Good luck to everyone taking summer classes!

Are you just loving it? I'm so envious of you all that are in nursing school already, though I know my time is coming!
Oh I am having SO MUCH FUN! lots of great experience and so much new knowledge. Cant wait for second semester!
That's so great to hear! Also, props to you for working full-time while in nursing school. I have so much admiration for everyone that does. I'm working during pre-reqs but because I'll be doing a 12 month Accelerated BSN program (already have a BA degree) I won't be working. I'll have to take out extra loans for living expenses but I think it's the best option for myself. Mainly because I know I will be furthering my education, either as a DNP or DO, after 2-3ish years of working as an RN so I want to make sure my grades are top notch.
@mindofmidwifery do you have any interview tips for PCT? It's not a usual interview, I record my answers and they review them later but it's going to be the standard questions. I'm too nervous, I have to shake that!
Sorry, I'm just now seeing this. I've had a video interview like that before and it was SO WEIRD. I guess the best advice is to exude confidence, even if you're nervous. Show your enthusiasm about the position, the company, and about healthcare in general. You'll do fine :)
The questions were so surreal, not really interview type questions? Like of course the tell us about yourself, name your best achievement, etc but it was really me focused. One question asked me my five year plans and what do I find most interesting about the position, and there were a few written answer questions about compensation and education. It was almost more like a phone interview type of questioning? But I like how they did it, each unit can review my answers and see where I might fit in. I was quite nervous and I'm sure they could tell, I'm just hoping they expect some of that!
I'm so anxious to hear back already! Hopefully they move a little quicker than the other places I've interviewed.

That actually sounds easier than the typical "what would you do in this situation" scenario questions. If you get through to the next step, will you be interviewing with a hiring manager next? That's awesome how different units can view your answers! I hope you hear back soon! That's very exciting :)
I'm not sure yet. I got an email thanking me for completing the interview and telling me a recruiter would contact me with the next step. I am super, super excited, it's with the biggest hospital system in the area and ideally where I'd want to work long term. And as a bonus, it partners with the university I go to for nursing school consideration. Aaahhhhhhh I'm too excited !!!

I never feel like I am done with a semester until I get all my grades in, just waiting on A&P 2 Lab final grade. I only needed 62% to keep an A, but I messed up my start time and didn't review any slides. I have an A in A&P 2 lecture, A in Microbiology lecture and an A in Microbiology Lab. Now it's just that final grade, then the wait to hear from the nursing program.
