Spring 2010 A&P 2

Published

Who else is taking it?

Feel free to give background info about yourself. Also please share how you did in A&P 1 and what you learned as far as how to study for it.

I am either going to take 14 or 17 credits, I have until the 19th of January to decide. :) I'm definitely taking: A&P 2, Human Growth and Development (Psych), Med Term, Lifetime Fitness and Statistics. I might also take my second Eng (don't need for ADN, need for BSN later down the road). If I don't take it (I'll then only have 14 credit hours), I'll take it with micro in the summer.I am taking all of my core classes right now. After spring, I'll only have micro left. And then I wait. My CC admits when all pre-reqs and core classes are done and that is based upon when you apply. I applied last August and am hoping for admission to the spring 2011 term, but have recently found out some people who finished their core classes last spring did not get in for this spring. I hope that I don't have to wait too long!

I ended up getting an A in A&P1, I loved my professor! She made things make sense. It helps that she used to be a nurse, so she often related things to nursing. One thing that I used all the time were note cards for lecture and lab. I kept the current ones with me all the time - if I was a few minutes early to pick up my daughter from preschool, I was going through the note cards. I took Lifetime Fitness and would walk on the treadmill for at least a half hour each time and while there would flip through those note cards. It helped keep my mind off of the time and it helped me learn the material. I'm planning on doing note cards again. We can get books starting the fourth of January and I'm excited - I'm going to make up my lab note cards early so that I only have to worry about making up my lecture note cards as the semester goes on.

Looking forward to getting to know others taking A&P2 in the spring! :yeah:

dalsor - how daring of you to take both micro and a&p2. I'm too chicken, so I'm going to take it in the summer. I'll be finished with all my core classes after the summer. So far, I have a 4.0 too...hoping to maintain it this semester! Good luck to you. :)

What can I say? I live on the wild side! Just kidding. I'm kind of nervous actually. Last semester I took chem, ap1, and dev psych, and didn't have any problems. Plus according to my track record I do better when under pressure. I remember Senior year of undergrade winter quarter, 22 units of upper div anthro at my University, + 4 units nutrition at CC, and EMT school. I had no life. Worst quarter stress wise, but I managed to pull through with A's in everything. I think I have a few white hairs from that quarter though.

LOL! That's my son in the nutshell! I'm just as bad in other things. Have you ever finished reading a page in your texbook and look up to realize you were daydreaming the whole time and don't remember anything you just read? This happens more frequently than I care to admit:eek:

Oh gosh. I do it ALL THE TIME. It's really amazing how often it happens though.

Hey there,

I am taking A&P2 this spring semester, I got an A in A&P1, and unlike others here, my teacher did not really help with the learning. And sometimes she didn't understand how certain systems worked beyond what the basic information in the text was.

I honestly think I need to be more diligent about how I study, I feel like I didn't study as hard as others in the class did. I always do goon on my tests, but studying a little more cannot hurt.

Well I wish the best to all who are taking A&P2 this semester.

I'll be taking A&P II this semester as my final pre-req, starting 1/23. My application is in for fall 2010 or January 2011 admission so all I'll have left is the nursing courses, if I get in. I did get an A in A&P I over the summer, but the course was intense- 4 hours a night, 4 nights a week for a month. Ugh. This semester my class is Saturdays from 9am-3:30pm. I work full time and have three young kids so Saturdays are the only thing that works with my schedule. It's not going to be fun giving up a weekend day, but it will give our family a taste of what a nursing school/work schedule could be like in the future. Best of luck to all.

I'm also taking A&P 2 this semester, starting the 19th. I got a C in A &P1 about 2 years ago. I'm definitely worried about this class, as I took the first part at m local CC and will have a totally different teacher and book. I'm definitely aiming to get at least a B this semester.

I'm also taking my last 3 classes for my major (graduating in May with my BA in psych). Senior thesis, psych of learning & a social work class.

I got my lab book today from the bookstore, so now I'll be preparing note cards for lab for the next 2 weeks (well, I guess it's less than two weeks now). It is making me excited to start classes again this semester. :)

Is anyone else getting nervous about it?? I remember getting like this right before taking A&P I last semester too but after the first couple classes I felt fine. I'm really nervous this time because the ratings on this particular professor are not that great but it was my only option. PLUS my butt is really on the line with this class. I got a B in A&P I so I HAVE to make an A in this one if I want to apply in July for next Spring.

I start on the 19th so I have less than a week and a half left!

I would be if I didn't have the same professor this semester as I did last semester. I'm slightly nervous for lab as it'll be a different lab instructor and the instructors for our lab portion vary wildly in what they require.

I'm actually excited to get back to the grind! I have the same prof. and am psyched! I learn so much and he keeps us laughing the entire class.

I feel slightly worried now. A lot of people are talking about how they got A's in API or if they got B's it's a must they get A's. I got a C in API and that was taking it for a second time (the first time I dropped it). I mean, I don't know. My school doesn't look at grades that closely. If you got a C or better and if you're GPA is 2.5 or higher and you pass the entrance exam then you are in. I barely scraping by and I just feel slightly stupid compared to everyone else on this post. I just thought I'd share that. Either way, I will try my best next semester.

It's certainly not a matter of being stupid. It all boils down to how much time you have to spend on studying. I personally spent about 2 hours each day (mon.-fri.). I would also study about 4 hours on sat. and sun. If you work and/or have a significant other just make sure that you schedule study time into your day like it's an appointment. Otherwise it will end up getting pushed aside for other things.

That makes sense. I work 40 hours and have always had other classes but on the other hand, I never really dedicated that many hours to studying. This coming semester will be different, though. If to no one else, I will prove to myself that I can do this. I can get above average grades. Only time will tell and I just wonder if I still have the same potential that teachers saw in me years ago...hmmm *ponders*
