Who else is taking it?
Feel free to give background info about yourself. Also please share how you did in A&P 1 and what you learned as far as how to study for it.
I am either going to take 14 or 17 credits, I have until the 19th of January to decide. :) I'm definitely taking: A&P 2, Human Growth and Development (Psych), Med Term, Lifetime Fitness and Statistics. I might also take my second Eng (don't need for ADN, need for BSN later down the road). If I don't take it (I'll then only have 14 credit hours), I'll take it with micro in the summer.I am taking all of my core classes right now. After spring, I'll only have micro left. And then I wait. My CC admits when all pre-reqs and core classes are done and that is based upon when you apply. I applied last August and am hoping for admission to the spring 2011 term, but have recently found out some people who finished their core classes last spring did not get in for this spring. I hope that I don't have to wait too long!
I ended up getting an A in A&P1, I loved my professor! She made things make sense. It helps that she used to be a nurse, so she often related things to nursing. One thing that I used all the time were note cards for lecture and lab. I kept the current ones with me all the time - if I was a few minutes early to pick up my daughter from preschool, I was going through the note cards. I took Lifetime Fitness and would walk on the treadmill for at least a half hour each time and while there would flip through those note cards. It helped keep my mind off of the time and it helped me learn the material. I'm planning on doing note cards again. We can get books starting the fourth of January and I'm excited - I'm going to make up my lab note cards early so that I only have to worry about making up my lecture note cards as the semester goes on.
Looking forward to getting to know others taking A&P2 in the spring!
I am a little excited but scared at the same (fear that I will procrastinate as bad as last semester. I know I have the potential to learn anything and everything and be best I can be but ADD takes over and it's down hill from there.) I start on Jan 25th but the week before I may get started since I am repeating 2 of the 5 classes I am taking :/ . We are also using the same book as AP I. :)
I have ADD as well and while it used to be a problem, I've learned to deal with it as I get older. The biggest help has been to make myself use a planner. I carry it everywhere and even before the semester begins I write in all my class and lab times, due dates (if I have a syllabus handy), and even schedule study time into each day. I found that being realistic about my time has been the key. I know for a fact I don't have a lot of time on the weekend to study so I schedule it during the weekdays when the kids are in school. I also make sure I schedule family time and time to go to the gym. If it's in my planner...it must be done!

Sounds simple enough. I use a planner as well (so as not to forget anything) but there are times (like today) when I sit down to do something and before I know it I realize I've been staring at the ceiling for the last ten minutes. I just wish there was some way that once I sit down I could stay focused for more than five minutes. It's really bad. Even when I'm reading a good book I constantly have to reread a paragraph or two because I totatlly spaced out:offtopic:. I'm working on it though. Things will get better...I will force myself to stay focused longer. Lol...idk
Great idea with the kitchen timer! My ADD son would spend hours in the shower without it! He needs that little reminder that he actually has a purpose in there! I never though of using it to stay focused with studying.
That's so funny. Daydreaming in the shower. I used to take forever as a kid because getting up at 6 for school was too early so I'd be half asleep. I'd spend the better part of the half hour just remembering i was in the shower and not the bed. Lol
Well, you'll need to know those, but you'll also need to know (at least we did) the different parts of the bones. Like the greater trochanter, fossas and the head, etc. We also had to learn the various types of articulations with the bones (hinge, gliding, etc) and which type each joint was.
ahh ok cool.. i know the joints..sliding and hinge ball socket.. but the whole tranchet?? thx a lot.. u know ive been at unease knowing tthat i needed to know this stuff.. all my freinds.. have failed with just this course.. im smart but gut feeling was saying start reading up on anatomy course and microbiology... so thats a HUGE HELP ... TYVM .. i know cant do much till ur inclass but i know u could do something.. so ty

January 7 start date. Taking A&P 2 lecture and lab, and Intermediate Algebra (blah). Got an A in both A&P 1 lecture and the lab last semester. What helped me? My prof was good in his field...research...but admittedly not a good teacher. We either learned on our own or failed....and about 25 did fail in my class! I would use another professors website for study and listen to her recorded lectures. We did use our book and I made sure to read and understand before lecture. Used the companion website for our textbook and also websites from the sticky at the top of this forum. Also did some flashcards. Biggest thing was to study every day! Made a world of difference when it came test time. For lab, taking full advantage of the extra time the prof gave us to spend on the models and slides helped. Again...studying every day. We also use the same book (Marieb 8th edition) but they have split it up into two 3-ring binders for the two classes. I like this because I can put my power points right into the binder! We also use the 10 System Suite Physiology DVD and it's GREAT for understanding difficult concepts, games, quizes, etc....
