Hey Everyone!
Thought I would be the first person to start a SPC Nursing Fall 2018 thread. Even though we still have one semester left before applying, I thought I would start a thread to get the ball rolling and to see where everyone stands. If are applying for the program in Fall of 2018, please let us know the amount of credits you will have at the time of applying and what your cumulative and program GPA's are. As for me, I will have 30 of 30 credits completed and a cumulative GPA of 3.9, with a program GPA of 4.0.
Awesome! That's always nice for sure hahah. The health department does the 2 step TB for $20 and the Quantiferon for $25 I believe which I thought was pretty reasonable. If you do the QFT there is a $10 charge for drawing blood, so $35 total. And anytime! We're all here to help one another :)
Oh wow, that's a great price! For CVS it was $130. So, I'll definitely be doing that at the health department
Hey guys, I am a former nursing student at Spc actually last semster, who decided after one semester that nursing wasn't for me. And have decided to go down a different path. I have all the books and am trying to sell them. As most of you who were accepted have seen the ungodly cost of the books, I am selling mine for $600. Message me if you are interested! I would love to get them off my hands. Best of luck to all the incoming students! I'd be more than happy to meet at HEC to sell them or anywhere else. I just want them gone. Lol

I'm looking at being admitted next semester so not sure if books would still be the same version however I would be interested possibly in any skills materials you still have such as stethoscope, etc...you can pm me here ...
Congrats to everyone who got in! I'm applying for spring semester. Not a pinellas resident but applying to all schools in the area. Wondering if the GPA being looked at is all of the classes on GPA calculator or just the 6 preentry required classes. I have finished all of those classes but wondering how my GPA will be calculated. Also wondering what was the lowest GPA accepted? I have a 3.4 so I'm wondering if I still have a chance. Is the TEAS calculated in with GPA or is it just a "check mark" to get in? Thank you!!

It is all the classes on the GPA calculator and they also have them listed on the admissions guide. Pinellas County residents take priority. I think for the fall semester the GPA was 3.7-4.0 but the spring semester is generally easier to get into. They don't look at or require the TEAS. I do have to say that if you're not a resident, your chances of getting in are slim. There were 544 applicants this fall and they only take in 90. I would still apply just in case though.
When your getting your skills kit - its the expensive one. It's a duffel bag FULL of all the things your gonna need for clinical days. Get a check off sheet of what's in it and make sure you have all your stuff. You'll have to see what glove size you are too. For gloves - DON'T go bigger. They get caught up in all things
Would you, or anyone, be willing to share the specifics of what I need will need to get for the skills kit bag? I'm an alternate and want to get a jump on the things I CAN just in case I get in last minute-and if I don't start til January, at least I already have some of the non time sensitive items on the checklist complete. Thank you in advance!
I'm going to see if my insurance covers this first,if not I'll be looking for someplace cheaper. I think the health dept. in St. Pete does them also for cheap.
Order Student Titers, Wellness Labs, Drug test , TB Tests, and more. - LabReqs.comI found this site and it does the full titer panel for $150
I wasn't sure if there was anything cheaper than this.
