SPC Nursing Fall 2018

Published

Hey Everyone!

Thought I would be the first person to start a SPC Nursing Fall 2018 thread. Even though we still have one semester left before applying, I thought I would start a thread to get the ball rolling and to see where everyone stands. If are applying for the program in Fall of 2018, please let us know the amount of credits you will have at the time of applying and what your cumulative and program GPA's are. As for me, I will have 30 of 30 credits completed and a cumulative GPA of 3.9, with a program GPA of 4.0.

Specializes in NICU RN.

Any 4th level students out there watching?

I've heard there's a clinic at the HEC that does cheap or free physicals for students, but every time I've tried to call the HEC lately it says due to the high call volume they can't take my call. I can't find anything about this online. Does anyone here know if that's true or have any information about it?

I think it's through the NUHS, which is on the HEC campus.

Thank you! I looked that up and found it right away. Free physical scheduled for next week, providing I get good news Thursday! How's level 1 going, by the way?

Cool! It's going okay I suppose. Thankfully only a few weeks left. Be prepared to work your butt off and barely have time to breathe. There's so much stuff thrown at you all at once, that it is nearly impossible to keep up with. Just hang in there though!

Did anyone buy earlier editions of some of the textbooks on the list and if so, did it cause any problems?

I wouldn't do that because they're not going to match the lectures or tests.

I am currently an SPC student. I have 2 more pre requisite classes to complete this summer (2020) then I can finally apply for the Nursing course by September, to start in January 2021.

I need to plan out my work schedule, and I was told that during the 4 semesters of clinicals it's very hard to work too. My current job is Monday to Friday 8 am to about 4pm.

Does anyone know how long the semesters are and the hours?

thanks!

Hi Carlee,

The semesters are a regular 16 weeks and the hours vary according to whether you get days or nights. Days can go anywhere from 7:30 to 3 pm. On theory days to 7am-7pm on clinical days. Some people can work and some can’t. You’ll get a better idea once you’re in the program. It’s TONS of work and studying. Good luck!
