    SPC Spring 2019

Congratulations Danny! You may want to start a new thread. This is one I started last year after applying for Spring 2019, which began this past January. You’ll be starting Spring 2020, this coming January. I welcome you to join the Facebook group I started, called “SPC Nursing Students-All Levels.” There are lots of people on there who are willing to offer advice and answer questions.

So you're applying for spring without micro AND stats complete? If you have a 4.0 GPA, that would give you 63/70 points, the equivalent of applying with a 3.3 GPA and all pre-reqs done. Still very possibly for a spring acceptance! :) Good luck-hopefully we'll be starting together come January! 🤞🏼

    SPC Nursing Fall 2018

Thanks Rebecca Michelle! I've been slowly purchasing items like BP Cuff, Stethoscope, Pen Lights, Pulse Oximeter, shoes, rolling crate, etc...so it doesn't all hit at once. I'm definitely going to be saving but just wanted to put a little chunk aside to start me off. I hope you're having a great first level experience!

    SPC Nursing Fall 2018

Thanks so much Holly! I was thinking about putting aside $1000 from this disbursement then I'd have the $800 book line of credit, which I've heard can be extended by talking to the financial aid office. I've gotten several immunizations recently through my job and already have one uniform, so I think I estimated about right.

I hope everyone is off to a great start! I know you're all super busy, but if anyone has a quick figure that sums up the total you spent for books/supplies/immunizations or any one of those three things separately, I would greatly appreciate it. I won't start until January, but I'm hoping to allocate some funds from my forthcoming financial aid disbursement since the Spring FA funds won't be available until 4 weeks after the semester starts. Thanks in advance!

Right on Mike! Glad to see you here-I'm sure you got this!

Don't even sweat it-you got this! Even if you don't on the first round (but I bet you will) you'll make it in as an alternate for sure. Just remember they made it so far down the alternates list this time that people with 66 points were offered spots. And you will have 66 points-with Spring being less competitive. Golden

I've been active on a different thread for people who applied to St. Petersburg College's Nursing program starting in August 2018. I made it on the alternate list (still completing Microbiology-finals tomorrow!), but have decided, with the help of an HEC advisor, not to accept if I get offered a last minute seat based on the fact that my only options for clinicals will be whatever no one else wanted. She said I'll definitely be accepted for January and will have top choice of clinicals/instructors, so I'm happy waiting another four months to start. Who else is applying for the Spring 2019 program?

Do you know if there are any BSN classes that could be taken during the summer breaks from nursing school or do we have to complete the program first?

    SPC Nursing Fall 2018

That's my silver lining for not getting in for fall-now I can take my last three AA classes during this nice long fall semester when they're still covered by financial aid, instead of paying out of pocket to cram them into a ten week break

Are you an alternate? I wonder how many there are. I'm #51. I have a 4.0 GPA, but since I'm not finished with micro and lab, (only 26 of 30 credit hours) it's the equivalent of having a 3.6 GPA

There must be a TON of people with 3.6-3.7! You're number 13 with 67.3 points and I'm number 51 with 66 points (4.0 GPA and 26/30 credits). I'm sure I'll be applying again for January-next time they review me I'll have 70 points!

It was in the bottom of the email. It shows you what number you are on the list and tells you that the number doesn't really matter(!) and that they will notify alternates on July 23 if a seat becomes available but they also said you could hear as little as one week before classes that you made it in, even if you didn't get notified by July 23. What I wonder is how do last minute alternates get the list done in time?

Mine told me at the bottom of the email. I'm number 51...not looking promising...lol

I also got an alternate spot! Good luck to you!

Thanks Rebecca! Today has been so looooong, I just can't wait to know one way or the other. Personally, it's a win win situation for me. If I don't start til January I get to take my last three AA classes in the 16wk fall semester rather than on a 10wk summer break, they'll still be covered by financial aid, and I'll have six months to ease into my first ever healthcare job (as a CNA) that I start next week-and save a little more money. Of course I'll be super stoked and make it work if I'm accepted!
