SPC fall 2011 nursing program

Hello!

I am finishing up my pre-reqs and will be submitting an application for the fall 2011 start of the nursing program at SPC. I am already super nervous and it seems like the horror stories of rejection due to GPA are getting worse! Is anyone else as nervous as I am?

Rejection letter today for me. Good luck to everyone else. Letters went out yesterday.

So sorry to hear that...Keep trying! I know I will be getting a rejection letter as well this week...When I talked to the academic advisor she said I wouldn't get in this fall since I'm not done with Micro, so it won't be a huge surprise when I get mine...

Okay, I should have checked my mail before I made my last post, since I just got my letter and this is what I got:

"As of March 1, 2011, our records indicate that you have not met all the requirements for admission, therefore you application is incomplete and could not be considered in the first applicant pool review".

Then it goes on to say:

"Your application will be automatically be included in the reevaluation pool. The reevaluation process will begin May 15, 2011; any new academic information completed and added to your student record prior to this date will be included into the reevaluation".

I already know why my application will be reevaluated. I didn't have the "Basic Computer and Information Literacy" completed when I submitted my application in January, but I did test out of it in March and passed, so it will be on my transcripts in May along with my Microbiology.

So, it's not a yes, but it's not a no...And to be honest I am not going to anticipate an acceptance letter in June mainly because I know my GPA will not be strong enough to compete with the second pool (currently at a 3.5).

Looks like I've got to wait a little bit longer until I know for sure...

Ok.. the letter finally came and my heart started pounding... I let it sit on the dining table for a bit while I got my kindergartener situated after school and hit the bathroom :).

It was terse and to the point but I've been accepted! Yikes!! This was my second application... I'd been passed up for the Spring term since I hadn't yet finshed Microbiology and was retaking Stats to bring up my GPA... which is now a 3.76 in the combined General/Support courses.

So now I just have to work out the logistics of doing the program as a single mom but I'll figure it out somehow!

I'm interested to hear how everyone else did and if anyone knows what the average GPA was for first round..

PS.. Swingate.. I don't know why you think you wouldn't get in with the second pool with a 3.5. I think if you have all your requirements posted by them your chances should be good. Also, there's still the July application for next Spring, which isn't too far off from the Fall term..

After reading your posts I couldn't wait to get home from work to check the mail...unfortunately I did not get a letter yet. Maybe tomorrow! Has anyone who may have applied to the Morton Plant Earn As You Learn Program heard anything back from them yet? Waiting is so hard!!!

My letter did not come today :( I am expecting it to come tomorrow, however after reading the posts I think I will be rejected this pool.

Woohoo!! Got my acceptance letter in the mail today!! My GPA is a 3.89. Third time was a charm for me!

Got my rejection letter today : ( It was my first time applying, and I have all of my nursing pre-reqs completed except MCB/MCBL which I am currently enrolled in. As of right now I have a 3.6 gpa. I am trying not to lose hope for second pool acceptance! Good luck to everyone, and congrats to all of those who were accepted!!

Congrats to everyone that has been accepted so far! Everyone else good luck for the 2nd pool.:)

Sarah - It is so hard to resist the tempation to call and get an update but I don't want to bug them since they did say it would probably be mid-april. Maybe we will hear something in the next few days. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!
