Hello!
I am finishing up my pre-reqs and will be submitting an application for the fall 2011 start of the nursing program at SPC. I am already super nervous and it seems like the horror stories of rejection due to GPA are getting worse! Is anyone else as nervous as I am?
I was thinking about calling after I stalked the mailbox 3 times today to find out that the first two times the mailman hadn't come yet, and the third time there wasn't anything from SPC. I'm hoping that next week is the week we'll find out...I'm glad my mailbox isn't the only one that hasn't received anything!
Hey Runninggal, if I remember correctly from last year I got my first pool rejection letter mid-April, and my second pool letter came about 2 weeks after the semester ended. I know it should be coming up anytime now, and I'm hoping it's this coming week. I keep checking here to make sure my mailbox isn't the only one that's empty.
Hello,
I have about 15 credits pre-req to go before entering nuring program. My GPA is not that great 3.3 and my adviser told me that if I can get most A on all my pre-req then that can boost up my GPA. Do you know if SPC offering evening class for their pre-req? Which PHI course do you recommend? I'm thinking of taking PHI 2635, but want to find out if anyone has taken PHI 1600 instead. and which instructor would you recommend for BSC 2085/2086 and MCB 2010? I went to login to MYSPC and all the internet/online classes did not have date/time indicated. I'm currently working full tine so I try to search for online pre-req classes that fit my schedule. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and good luck everyone on your nursing education...
Snowmyst, you can take most (if not all) the pre-reqs online at the ecampus, which means you just work around your schedule and making sure you are able to meet all the deadlines the professor requires. Since starting SPC 2 years ago, I've taken all the needed classes that I didn't have online. I took PHI 1600 online and I can recommend professors but we would have to private message on this forum since they don't allow for real names to be used on the public boards. Good luck!
Snowmyst.. I would recommend taking as many SPC prereq classes as you can online.. it's a great time-saver and I know I was really able to concentrate and absorb the material a lot better this way. As far as instructors I have to HIGHLY recommend ***** ****** for A&P... she is outstanding and she does teach online courses as well. (hopefully the board won't redact her name since I only have glowing things to say about A. N. :) )
Another two cents for you: Register EARLY, as in 12 AM the day registration starts to ensure you get a "seat" in your chosen courses (or you may have to wait another semester!).. if you can't get what you wanted, register for your second or third choice but keep checking back and especially check back in the course search the day tuition is due as many students don't end up paying and a lot of seats come available on that day. I think with the 15 credits you have yet to take you can definitely pull your GPA up to get into the nursing program you just have to kind of make it a challenge and don't accept any less than A's from yourself. Good Luck!!
Hello,
just want to get an idea and find out if anyone here be able to work full time and attending nursing school full time? What are the possibilities of doing that and if it's not quite possible working par-time and attending school full time will work out better,? thanks for sharing this information.
While Msbean recommends *********, I have heard some pretty awful things about her - I took ***** online for both A&P classes and labs, and he was wonderful! Check out ratemyprofessor.com for further reviews and base it on that. I think it would be hard to attend nursing school full time and work full time, since nursing school is 4 days a week; part time work might be a better option with nursing school.

Hi all,
I just wanted to give a heads up. I am an LPN through the Army and I completed my prereqs and got accepted to the SPC LPN to RN transition program immediately. I start Aug 2011 (evenings). My overall GPA is a 3.7 and I live in Hillsborough County. Some of you might consider doing the LPN program at Ptec first.. it seems easier to get in this way and class start dates for the transition program are offered spring, summer, and fall. Good luck every one!

Anyone have any ideas about when letters go out? Nothing today for me. Wondered if anyone had called the school to get an idea?
