Southwestern College ADN 2016

U.S.A. California

Hello All,

I wanted to start this thread for those fellow applicants that applied for the Southwestern Community College Fall 2016 ADN Program. Not sure If this is a little late but I have yet to receive my notification regarding being invited or not for the program. As you can probably assume, I am extremely nervous right now and have been ever since I submitted my application. I've been in contact with Martha over there and she informed me that they were currently showing attention to the Step-Up program and they should be completed by this week. After completing their portion, the remainder of the letter will be sent out.

Has any one been offered a spot in the ADN program for the fall 2016 cohort yet?

@thatperson, I wish! I should have clarified they require the shots to be complete when you apply. I had my second shot two weeks ago. There is an accelerated traveling version of the vaccine that only takes 30 days but they told me they won't accept that and the quickest I could get the third was 8 weeks later, but even then I guess you are also supposed to get a seropositivty test 4 weeks after the last shot and give them proof of that as well. They said even if I did all that after I turned in my app it would be incomplete and they won't accept it :(

Its funny, I looked at the app for grossmont several

times and somehow didn't scroll down far enough or look on a portion of the site that listed that information until it was too late. I guess I just wasn't thinking about it since the other programs I'm applying to only require the immunizations right before you enter the program

Oh I see. Yeah I had the Hep B titer test at a local community college. It was only 7 bucks. But you have great points for palomar and mira costa. Hopefully we see each other there!

You have great points too! I'll keep in touch the next few months and hopefully we both get into a program we want :)

4 more weeks???

After March 12th you will get your letter of entry =)

4 more weeks???

Did you apply at Palomar and Mira Costa college what are you points for those schools if so? I talked to the lady when I turned in my application she said they advise to aim for mid 70's I have 72 hehe so I could make the cut there. If you get into both you will choose which one? Also Palomar won't let us know until the mid of April so if you get accepted to SWC you will have to accept then if you get into Palomar do they let you choose?

@brandyP I will be applying to all of those as well!

I am at 83 points for both palomar and miracosta. And about the same score for grossmont. If I get in to SWC I will accept it just in case. But I want to go to either Palomar or Grossmont! SWC is actually my 3rd choice as it is the farthest for me. I still need to ask my employer for a letter of employment for Hours. I will probably do it tomorrow. My first choice being Palomar then Grossmont.

Do you mean after March 12 we will get a response from Southwestern?

My sister go hers on march 12th so according to this calendar it might be 10th on Friday or the week of the 13th of march =)

ohhh I see. but maybe sooner no? haha. I'm sure there were hundreds of applicants lol. If you guys applied somewhere else, can you tell me what your letter says for proof of work experience? Does it say how many hours you've worked ? dates? lol because my employer doesn't know what to put on it.

Hello,

I had them put my position, date of hire and what my job role was and my total hours with the company since my hire date. Also include your currently working for the company so date of hire and still employed with the company. Current total hours worked since hire date. The lady at the office told me that you can use the same letter for both proof of work and hours just make two copies that's why I said to put the hire date, position, and total hours worked there =) hope this helps

I'm also applying to MiraCosta and Palomar. I just took my TEAS and scored 88%. I'll have 85/86 points when I apply. Was it Palomar that told you mid 70s? I know last cycle for MiraCosta the points were very high and the minimum you needed to get in was 85 and the average was 89. I guess it was the highest it has ever been!

Im not sure what school I'll pick yet if I get into both. I'm leaning towards MiraCosta because of the smaller class size and it was just ranked 3rd in California for nursing programs based on the programs Nclex pass rates!
