Hello everyone! I still remember being as anxious (and as excited as you guys were when I was accepted) I am finishing up my second semester at Palomar college nursing program and to be honest, It is the most difficult, yet most enjoyable times of my life as a student. So my cohort started with 40 students (usually they accept 36-37) but my cohort had some of the most competitive score points ever so they made an exception. Just a tip, if you are an alternate, MAKE SURE YOU ANSWER ANY CALLS especially if it is a 760 area code (when someone who is accepted gives up the spot, they literally call everyone on the alternate list and who ever answers first would get that spot) Good luck to you guys and let me know if you have any questions!!!

hi @Jmc1592 ! The program is extremely demanding at Palomar College. I really think that the first semester was more challenging and they definitely try to filter people out. We lost 5 people I think first semester, but second semester we are definitely not going to lose anyone as our class are doing better with tests. First semester you go to school Monday(7am-3pm) Tuesday (7am-2pm) and Wednesday/Thursday (7am-12pm) the first 5 weeks. Then starting week 6 you go Monday(7am-3pm) Tuesday(7am-2pm) and then one day clinical which is 6am-4pm (So you only go to school 3 days a week after week 5). You have 5 tests, and you must pass 3/5 with a 70% on the exams (40 NCLEX style questions). You must pass all 5 skills test (Ambulation/Transfer bed to wheelchair, Vital signs, Oral meds, Insulin/SubQ injection, and Head to Toe/charting). The first 5 weeks are what they call "Hell weeks" because literally you have to read everyday and study everyday or else you'll be behind. I wanted to quit everyday the first five weeks and questioned if this was for me. But stick through it and hopefully you'll be fine! Good luck!!

@leighannquismo omg! I remember talking to you last year!! about the program! I am now halfway done my second semester of nursing school at Palomar College! It's so interesting that in order to pass the semester you have to get a 78% at SWC. In Palomar we are only responsible for a 70%, but then again I have a friend who went to Palomar first semester but had to drop because she was not able to get a 70% and started again at SWC and said that SWC is WAYYYY easier than Palomar college. But I was looking over this thread to see how far I have gotten in my nursing career and how I can say I was one of you guys too before! Last year I received my acceptance email March 8th at around 12 pm. So maybe it'll be the same this year as well. But the nursing program alone is extremely demanding and time consuming! Do not expect to work full-time and expect to do well. The program requires a lot of dedication and a lot of heart, if I may add. Good luck to you guys!!!

Hi guys! I'm in the program about to finish first semester! My cohort was one of the most competitive cohort in terms of points! we had 36 people accepted and there was 4 people IN CLASS that were still alternates and didn't found out that they were officially in the program until week 4. So we had 40! they added 4 more students in. Technically they aren't supposed to since they can only take so much people for clinical. But they figured out a way. However for those of you guys waiting for acceptance don't worry! most alternates get in! if you have at least 75, you're in good shape. 78 points were the cut off for my cohort I believe. Hello everyone! congrats to everyone! I had about 84 points at palomar. no i am stuck at which one to choose between palomar or grossmont! any advice?

I would of assumed that Palomar will be the first CC to email results.

I do not think it is unfair. tosco94 decision to attend orientation is his decision for his future. I do not think that he has to think of someone else when deciding where to go. its a career choice that could affect HIS/HER life. so thinking about "if i dont go it'll my spot will be given to someone next in line" its a huge decision that he/she has to make for his/her self. This is the real life, yes it is nice to think about others, but this is a decision that could affect his/later years. It is not tosco94 fault that he/she had a better score/gpa than someone who did not make it.

did you apply to grossmont?

I am choosing to go to Grossmont because of their partnership with PLNU and SDSU.

BTW, I seriously give praise to you and those students with kids and full time job. I thought this would be extremely hard for me. As a signle 21 year old with no major responsibilities yet, I thought it was going to be a challenge. But thinking that there are people who will be doing the program, working, and have responsibilities at home... kind of put my worries into perspective haha. Yes that sounds like a plan. I too applied at National. But I do not get any financial aid so it will be extremely expensive for me. I like the SDSU track with partnership with Grossmont. Doing cross enrollment at SDSU taking 2 BSN classes and 1 Upper Division GE. The counselor said I could get my BSN in 2020 through SDSU, which is the ultimate goal.

After further consideration, I have decided to attend Grossmont College everyone! Who ever is going to be attending Grossmont I will see you on June 2 for the orientation!!!

Are you guys going to Grossmont? I am torn between grossmont and southwestern.

I dont see where it says proof of applying...mine just says the intent to enroll to fill it up and scan and email it
