Southwestern College ADN 2015

Published

Hi!! Just wanted to start a thread for those that applied for Southwestern College's Fall 2015 ADN Program. I'm so nervous to wait for March/April for the notices to come out. I'm a hit or miss ranking at 75 points. I'm a CNA with my Bachelor's in Health Science emphasis in Public Health from SDSU as well. Anyone else applied as well? Nervous? Hopefully this discussion keeps going =)

Hope other AN members interested in this program spy this thread.

Hey agsd88,

I'm planning on applying before the deadline. But, I know how it feels to play the waiting game. Well, your points seem pretty decent. I wish you luck.

Thank you =) same to you!!!

Following as I am curious how many points are really needed for the program. I am currently taking my prereqs at SWC

The total points of impaction are out of 100. Here's the link for the impaction grid so you can estimate your point total http://www.swccd.edu/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=10771 I was told at the nursing dept office that the average point totals SWC admitted last year were 75 and above. They admit 60 students and have 10 alternates

I submitted my application last week. Do you know when they are going to send acceptance letter?

I am nervous about my application. I did not have the Student Education Plan with my packet. I called before and I was told If I am not a student then I won't need that, but when I got there the lady just gave me a weird look when I told her that. Keeping my fingers crossed! Good luck to us!

Hello dsmom,

I also applied last week. I was told applicants should hear something in March, since they have to go over every application and from what I could see there were tons. I think the SEP was on admission procedure list however, I think you should call a counselor in students services at Otay just to make sure. I think you should be fine because you have to be enrolled at the main campus to have one done there, but Otay campus will assist non enrolled. Good luck to you and let the waiting begin!

I just turned in my application early this morning. Before I arrived at the office, I checked to make sure my packet had everything it needed. The woman at the front desk checked it as well. As soon as it was officially out of my hands, I started to get nervous and went back inside the office to check my packet for a third time, LOL. I'm such a dork.

Good luck everyone!

Good luck to you!! Were you able to get SEP? I went to the counseling service this morning and was told that I have to be a current student and actually taking a class to get that. Then I called the nursing office and was told that maybe half of the student didn't have that. So I asked them, "will that jeopardize my application if I don't have it?" and she said, "probably not!"

I am just being hopeful, but I am beyond upset that the person who accepted my application didn't even review it nor she gave me more information about the damn SEP. I had to call on different days to get a different person so they can really tell me what's what!

Thank you, dsmom! Same to you :)

Yes, I was able to get an SEP back in October. I'm hoping the SEP does not jeopardize your application either. But I think you'll be fine since you couldn't even get an SEP in the first place; seeing as how you have to be currently taking a class according to the counseling services.

dsmom,

I'm sorry your having such hard time, I did too! I was able to get a SEP done with a counselor at Otay and I'm not enrolled. But, I was told I need to have my transcripts evaluated and they said I had to be enrolled to have that done, so I was freaking out about that. However, I was told the director understands that many of the applicants are not current students. I think the counselor mentioned, but dont quote me on it! said that the SEP can be done after acceptance cause I wanted her to edit mine because I added some things but she left it as is and said that. Thats why I said I think you should be ok. I can definitely understand your frustration because I'm also questioning if my application is complete, I asked would they go over them again and was told they would thats why we won't get any news until March.I was also told if you are missing something you are not automatically disqualified, complete applications take priority then they take from incomplete. Good luck
