Some parents amaze me

Some parents absoulutely amaze me. Not really, just how stupid and petty and vindictive can they be. Case in point.

Parents of a 3 yo child. Bring that cute little child in for swallowing a quarter. Xray shows the quarter in the stomach. GI and the Endo lab come in. Off to endo lab. Sedated child, scoped and removed quarter. No big deal ehh. All is well. They put the quarter in a specimen jar and give it back to the parents. A souvenir I guess.

The parents in their alledged wisdom discuss with the child about swallowing foriegn objects. Wasnt foriegn though, it was an American Quarter.

The parents show the child the quarter, and let the child handle it. Yes it happened. The child immediately put it back in the mouth and promptly swallowed it.

Moral of the story

some people should not be parents.

What really gets to me is not the stupidity, but the selfishness some parents have. The ones who don't care that they are hurting their childrens feelings, or care about their comfort.

A while back, I was at Shopko (it's like Target) and these two preschoolers were running up and down an aisle with a cart, yelling and knocking things off the displays. I finally found their mother and told her what they were doing, and that this is how children get kidnapped, and she replied, "Oh, the kidnappers will get tired of them and give them back."

And she didn't figure out after the first one that kids are hard to care for? I really should have looked for the manager and had him or her ask them to leave; when I worked at Target as a teenager, management had to escort people out many, many times for various forms of disruptive behavior - usually adults but not always.

You reminded me . . in WalMart recently there was a little guy walking barefoot in front of his mom's shopping cart and people kept telling her he was going to get his feet run over and she just rolled her eyes and let him keep going. She even pushed the cart into him. Poor little kid. :o:o

I was in Wal Mart picking up a very heavy DVD/VCR wall shelf to put in my cart. I was just getting it into the cart when I felt another cart bump my rear end. Hard. Ditz driving apologized and said "I couldn't see you, I have a baby in here and HOW DARE YOU JUST STOP WITH NO WARNING." Um... Excuse me? You can't see I was stopping? She was not very nice... blamed everything on not being able to see around the baby. I really wanted to rip her a new one and tell her I wasn't the stupid one to knock her up... but I was good... I just walked off and went to look at the candles. I really wish they had a Zen one there. I surely needed one.

one thing that saddens me is parents (usually the women) who out right curse their young children out. I mean, saying shut the F up, what the F do you want, and things like that. My siblings and I got yelled and cursed out a lot, called names, etc...all it did was make me an angry teenager.

That breaks my heart when I hear it. . . . . :o

I know what you mean - do you know Carlos Mencia's song..

If you are a dee

Please don't marry a dee

Or your kids will be dee dee dee

Every kid has so much potential, then you take a gander at the parents. Now, I'm getting mad too...

Ugh. I get angry when I hear parents curse at their kids or tell them to shut up. Makes me so dang mad.

Once I was helping a PA suture a big nasty gash on a little girl's big toe - she was about 7 years old - and she was really trying to be still, but it hurt, you know? So she was wiggling and hollering a little, and I'm trying to hold her and reassure her. She was doing about as well as could be expected, and out of nowhere, her mother slapped her across the face for crying. It was all I could do to not slap Mom back. :angryfire

We all have to watch our mouths, eh? When did "it sucks" become okay to say? I would have had my mouth washed out with soap for that. I know a lady who swears when she drives. Then she was pushing her stroller with her toddler in tow on a crowded sidewalk. The kid yells out, "Move over A$$hole!!!" She nearly died of embarassment, but it was a painful lesson.

I'm glad all of us are such great parents! ;)

...moments like these require such self-control!

What gets my goat in places like Wal-Mart is when the kids are screaming like banshees or behaving in a way to make a savage blush and there are 4 adults with them!

Couldn't one of y'all just stay home with the kids every once in a while?? I had two rowdy little boys- who were not allowed to run wild in stores or restaurants. When they were tired, hungry, or not feeling well, they stayed at home with one parent while the other shopped!

I took snacks with us to restaurants to tide them over until the food arrived. We went to family-type places and when we were done, we got up and left!

Someone else mentioned selfishness on the part of the parents, and that's really true. I think when you bring someone else into the world, there's a period of time when you really need to put that someone else's welfare ahead of what you want. Novel concept, I guess.

I mean, in my 30 years of parenting, I'm never had an embarrassing moment, and I've certainly never lost my temper! ;) I've definately never snapped at any of my children in a public place! :lol2: I've never uttered a curse word either! :smokin::coollook::clown:

You all may touch my robe as I pass!
