So who do nurses marry or have as civil partners???

Nurses General Nursing

This post is meant as a bit of light relief and certainly not meant to be taken too seriouly. Last night one of the nurses in my department said they had read an article saying that despite the growth of the internet the most likely place that people meet partners is at work so we had a quick pole to see if this was the case. The results are as follows:

1) Police Officers - the run away winners with 8 nurses in our department in a relationshipwith a police officer, must be the uniforms!!.

2) Other nurses - came in at number 2 with an equal mix of people having met at nursing school or once qualified.

3) Paramedics - all had met through work

4) Radiographer - again another meet through work

5) Doctor - only came in at way down the list, clearly we have not been reading enough Mills and Boons!!! It's funny when I started training in the olden days the first thing my 90year old Grandma said was "how lovely you'll be able to meet a handsome Doctor" never had the heart to tell her the reality!!:)

It's fair to say we also had nurses who met their partners away from work and are in relationships with a teacher, farmer, car salesman and vet!!!!

As I said it's just for fun but now it's over to you - who do nurses marry or have as civil partners?????:redbeathe

Specializes in military nursing.

My husband is a Physician's Assistant. We're both in the military, so although I like a man in uniform, who's to say he doesn't like a woman in uniform? ;)

Another nurse married to a police officer here! However, we started dating before either of us started our schooling for our careers. Must be something to the personality types of those who pick those careers working well together! Been together 25 yrs and still going strong. We understand and get the whole shift work, weekends, and stress of working with the public of each other's jobs.

Another police officer's wife here! In my area you petty much work as a nurse, a police officer, or in the chemical plants though! Several of my husbands co-workers are nurses too :-)

I met my boyfriend through one of my gay friends. He got in a real bad car accident and was at the hospital I was working at at the time. My gay friend was visiting his brother and I went to visit my friend and I saw him laying there in the bed and said damn Jason ur brother is hot. And we started talking from there and the rest is history. :) he's a union roofer. Although money isn't everything. We both bring home the same amount of money per week which is nice. It's nice to have someone bring to the table what you bring and it's also hard to fine someone who brings home that much and has a job in this economy.

Specializes in Family Nurse Practitioner.

I am married to a pharmacist. Proud to say he opened his pharmacy about a month ago!

I'm a nurse married to car-nut. He's been a delivery driver, worked at an auto parts store, managed a different auto parts store, worked as a sales rep for an automotive parts manufacturer, and, as of June 1st- is now the proud owner of his very own car dealership!

My grandmother was a nurse (for about 5 minutes before she quit to work as a secretary for a large manufacturing company...) she was married to a postman.

Hubby's grandmother was a nurse, married to a lawyer/judge.

One aunt who is a nurse is married to a marketing guy who has worked for HP and Dell.

The other aunt who is a nurse is married to a guy who buys businesses, restructures them, and sells them at a profit.

No cops in the whole bunch! My sister just got married to a cop though! And she's in the health field, sort of... Her degree is in exercise science, she's working for a grant-funded community health program with a local hospital right now.

Specializes in CDI Supervisor; Formerly NICU.

My wife is a nurse. She married me. I'm now a nurse, but back then I was a cop/correctional supervisor.
