Hi guys,
So basically, I start NS on August 25th (about a week and a half from today! ) and I'm feeling so many emotions right now! I guess it didn't hit me until recently because I just got my schedule and on Tuesday we have orientation and I'll be getting all my books, my scrubs, my nametag, etc.. It's crazy to think back on how far I've come. A year ago I was struggling to get my prereqs done, in April I got my acceptance letter, and already I'm starting in less than 2 weeks. Does time ever fly! And that's just the start... imagine looking back on 2 years from now! Anyway, I feel nervous, anxious, scared, happy, but above all I'm insanely excited and absolutely feel ready. So, how about you guys? I know there are a lot of people who start tomorrow, so I'm curious to know the emotions running through those people right now. I also expect to be reading a few stories on the "first day of nursing school unleashed" thread.

I don't start until September 16, but I am already terrified. I think that is the general feeling for all of us starting in the next few weeks. I can't wait to hear the stories as the majority of us start in the next 2 weeks.

I start next week. I was sooo excited when I found out I got in (my first choice, the only school I applied to, etc.).. But at this point, I'm more terrified than anything. I'm wondering why not more excited.. It's a 12 month ABSN program, so maybe that has to do with it.. I really need to psych myself up!
Good luck to everyone! :)

I start wednesday! I'm dreading it, but excited at the same time! I think i'm dreading how much studying i'm going to have to do, the amount of reading, and the amount of workbook pages, careplans, group projects,(we already have a test on day 1 over material from orientation, and then we have a lab or lecture test every week, not to mention a pharmacology quiz every week, and pharmacology test every 3 weeks!) but i'm excited that this is the beginning of my nursing career and that I finally made it. I'm hoping the time flies by just like summer did!
Good luck everyone! And congrats for making it this far :)
I'm actually looking forward to all the work... I don't know how long that'll last though, haha. I think it's because I've been out of school fora couple of years now, so maybe I forget how hard it is.

I start on the 23rd and am almost dreading it. It's an hour and 15 minute commute for me. However, it's not the drive I'm dreading the most, it's the students! I'll be in a town where I don't know anyone, far from home, sitting in class with all of these people who are total strangers! It doesn't help that I'm such a non-traditional student. I'm 26, married with 2 kids and this will be my 3rd degree. I'm terrified!!!! We had orientation last Friday, but didn't have the chance to mingle or anything with our classmates.

You sound like the average student to me! The thing I have learned about most nursing programs is that there definitely is a higher percentage of "non traditional" students than there is traditional. I'm sure you will find plenty of people you can relate to.. I have talked to a bunch of people in my program (which starts next month) and most of them had kids.
As for me, I'm nervous, excited, etc.. nursing seems like this huge intimidating mountain that I have to climb. Like, I can barely imagine myself in the actual role of a nurse, so it's a bit scary to think about the journey to get to that point.

I start on the 23 with orientaton and I am definetly experiencing a bunch of diffferent emotions. The program I'm attending is only in its second year, so we've been getting all of out information last minute. So I I was anxious and excited to get my textbooks, and supplies but after getting my handbook on Friday I'm getting really nervous. The main thing that scares me is that we have a dosage calculations test on the 25th

Hi everyone
I am also married with two kids...my youngest starts Kindergarten on the 23rd and I start school on the 24th. I am soooo excited, nervous, anxious, and so many other emotions all in one. The path to becoming a GREAT NURSE is going to be an adventure for all of us, I'm sure. So good luck to all of us, and hopefully in a couple of years we'll all be on here posting about our graduation. Can't hardly wait!!!! :)
