So I'm fired. Again.

I must be the worst nurse in the world.

Now I need to figure out my next step. And it isn't nursing.

well good luck to you sue, everything happens for a reason and chances are you will find a job you like better and will do fine. firing someone cause they "could" be unsafe holds no ground. we all at times have the potential to be unsafe depending on our situation.

I am so sorry. Believe me, I know how you feel. It's a heartbreaking experience and your self esteem takes a big blow. It takes a while to recover, or at least it did for me. As as much as you try not to say a job doesn't define you, you can't help but feel it does. So feel free to cry and let it out, then realize that there's always another day to see the sunshine! I agree with some of the other comments, you have found your niche yet in nursing and as new nurses (which I am just in pre-nursing still), you need good mentors! I always try to remember what a very dear friend said to me when I went through the job termination experiences, that "God never closes a door without opening a window"!

God Bless and hugs to you,

Lots of hugs!!! Just remember that this is not a reflection on how you are as a nurse it's a reflection on how nasty your preceptors were. I think they couldn't handle the upbeat, confident nurse that you are. Personally from reading your posts, I think you brought a breath of fresh air to that unit and they couldn't handle it. Those precepters are the kind of stifling, negative people you wouldn't want to work with anyway. You are on to better and brighter things![/quote']

Someone please clone dream'n and put one of her on every unit in the country .:balloons:If backstabbing wounds were included ,the # of nurses c/o chronic back pain would be > 52 % .

Suesquatch,

Not to minimize your hurt , just want to tell you w/ 30 years as a nurse I've seen a lot of this. The coldness , the vague insinuations , the pointed invisibility of the person being victimized.

At the risk of sounding trite , you are better off w/o them .Imagine them scheming for a year or so , setting you up for the pounce / kill.

I've seen it happen.

Their loss.:trout:

Got to say that I have only read some of the big picture , but looks plain to me.:angryfire Not caring if this sounds trite , please keep at it . We NEED people like YOU in the profession.

Regards to DH . All the Best, MTP

Thank you all so, so much. You don't know - or maybe you do - how much your kindness means to me.

This site mean so much on so many levels. Heck, I was so inspired by the "pushing drugs for the man" thread that I'm sitting here eating steamed veggies with rice instead of Singapore mei fun.

:)

Thank you all again.

Nursing is the toughest job there is and other nuses should mentor you instead of condeming you. I am a new nurse and everyone at my job is so supportive. I probably would have quit by now if it weren't for that. Hang in there.

You are a lucky RN. I have a supportive environment too, in LTC. I do want to get more experience elsewhere though. But now I'm kind of afraid to leave!

Thanks, all.

Well, I have a new plan. DH and I are just going to live very frugally over the next few months and I'm going to bang out the RN classes I have left via Excelsior.

I'm not going back as an LPN, and I'm sure as heck not going back to med/surg. Once I am an RN I have options, and they are not only the nursing home or med/surg.

Thanks for all of your kind words. I'm feeling, to quote the Fuggs, like homemade shiddle-iddle-iddle it. With appologies to the TOS.

:)

I'll be ok. I just hate feeling played, which I was the last few weeks here.

GOOD FOR YOU!!! You deserve better, go out and get it! There are good preceptors out there, preceptors with real insight into their new nurses & want them to be better nurses than themselves. I am an L&D preceptor. When one of my new ones hits the floor and starts looking better than me & the Docs rave. I feel like I have a gold star on my shoulder! So go out there and show em your stuff!!
