I need to vent or burst. I am in my final leg of nursing school and had an exam today. It was badly written and intentionally confusing. A lot of the test questions was not even over the material that it was supposed to be. Everyone and that includes 42 nursing student feel like they utterly bombed the exam. By bomb I mean they failed to the point that we will need to all drop out because the exam was 30% of our grade. I have never failed a nursing exam to date. I studied for this exam more than any other exam. I am so upset that I don't know what to do. This nursing instructor has been known to make exams were there is hardly any one that passes. She gives us information that is considered wrong in all the nursing and NCLEX books. I am about to give up even though I have only one more semester. Thanks for letting me vent.

My suggestion. Take it to the Dept Chair.

all 42 of you should contest it. If it was just one or two students that failed then you probably couldnt get any attention drawn to the problem but the WHOLE class??? wow thats wild.

This past summer term, over 50% of the class failed exam 1, fully 75%-80% failed exam 2, and people started doing better after that, only the most savvy instructor offered a 3-session test-taking skills class during lunch after the exam 3 debacle.
After the final exam, about 15 students were failed out. Lots of smart students only got a C, there were 1 or 2 Bs, and nobody got an A. The school fired the director of nursing. They should have tossed the exam 2 grades altogether and retested the class on that content.
So, sometimes it's the instruction, not the students.

That happened to me last semester... the ENTIRE class failed an exam and the instructor had the nerve to blame us!
I love how these "instructors" are "teaching" us how to be responsible, accountable health care professionals, when they're complete frauds.

Similar thing happened to us. Half did good, half did bad. Consistent B students took a dive. Two more tests and a final... hope we make it

The thing that annoys me most about all this is, sometimes they dont even lecture on what we are going to be tested on. its one big guessing game.
I know the point of our going to get a degree is to be educated throughly on the subject matter, & pass NCLEX, but sometimes i wish they would just teach what the test is on. I dont know about you but i can honestly say im not going to remember every single lecture ever. thats why there are books & internet. Why make our lives harder than they already are??
