  1. My School.. Anything Letter Grade Description Grade Points A+ 90-100 4.0 B+ 85-89 3.5 B 80-84 3.0
  2. We are required to wear our school uniform, and ID. (If we don't have our ID we are asked to leave and pay to make it up) Other things we should have is our stethoscope, bandage scissors, tape, any color pen, and any prep work (often we don't get our assignment till 30 minutes before). We typically print out the one sheet kardex that we make notes on. BUT you have to cut off the name, room #, and any account numbers. The person who said a tape measure.. awesome idea! There are many times I wish I had one. I always have my iphone which has drug guides and procedure guides if needed. The floor usually has an old Davis laying around or we can look up meds from the computer. (All our records are electronic).
  3. Started mine today and have lab on Wednesdays. Yikes!! I am more nervous now! The Prof put all the notes and powerpoints on blackboard already for both lecture and lab. I just looks SO overwhelming. *takes a deep breath* All will be good.
  4. I have a livescribe pen. My prof would at the start of a new topic post the power point to blackboard. I would write out every slide on the RIGHT side of my notebook. Then read the book. During lecture I would take notes on the LEFT side of the notebook corresponding to what slide he was on. If he strayed from the power point I would follow him in my notes for that specific topic. I would underline, box in, put starts, or !! the notes on the RIGHT side for things he stressed in class. When I was rereading my notes and writing flash cards if I didn't grasp something I would listen to that part of his lecture. The reason I love my livescribe. Just ask before recording lectures some profs and classes don't allow it.
  5. I take the TEAS 5 on the 25th and am in the Albany area. My main worries are English and Reading. I am reading the ATI and McGraw Hill books for another week. Then some of the college classes I am taking start back up and I wont have a lot of time to focus on TEAS studying.
  6. I will be taking Micro this semester as well. We start on the 17th. Yikes!!
  7. I am so frustrated with my school right now. I am taking classes towards a nursing degree, just not the nursing classes yet. When I go to my schools nursing website it has all the classes listed and the recommend order to take them. Developmental and Abnormal Psychology are listed in 1st and 2nd semester, then in the 3rd semester there is a social science elective. Over the summer I talked to an advisor and was told typically for students working towards nursing or in the nursing program General Psychology is exempted. Tuesday I went to my advisor (Individual studies at this time) and was told General Psychology is a prereq for developmental and abnormal. This means they are requiring me to take it. The lady says "You can use it for your social science elective." I was so mad when I left her office. She wouldn't listen to me at all when I explained I already have all my electives. They are transfers from another college. Has anyone else come across this? Were you exempted or required to take general psychology? I am sure I am blowing all this out of proportion but.. in the end it costs money to take a class that is not 'needed'.
  8. My suggestion. Take it to the Dept Chair.
  9. I am signed up to take A&P 1 this fall. There are 3 books required. 1. Hardcover Human A&P 10th edition Marieb ($284.05 on campus) 2. Human A&P Lab Manual 10th edition - (updated this semester) cat version - Marieb 3. Loose leaf Text w/ lab cat access code (updated) 8th Edition - Marieb (231.21 on campus) I was able to find the Lab Manual on the publishers website, there is an e-book option ($125 on campus, $48.80 e-book rental), the other 2 books are a special bundle for the school I will be attending. I have been thinking about e-mailing the professor to ask if the bundles would be okay rather then buying them through the book store. Looking at amazon. Has anyone e-mailed and asked about the books before classes start? (Or even for a syllabus?) If so, can you share your experiences, please? Class starts Aug 29th. Thanks in advance. :)
  10. Has your children's father changed? He has 50/50 custody of the kids with you? Get counseling for yourself and your children. You guys need a fresh start from everything.
  11. I am so sorry you are having to go through this, for your safety you need to leave!! Get out of the place you have both shared. Call a shelter. Do what you need to do!! I added some bold to the part about your dog. In some states the laws regarding animals is MUCH MUCH stricter and more enforced then domestic violence. Call and report that. It does suck that your employer let you go for problems at home. He is in fact punishing you for being assaulted. File for unemployment! What is the worse they can do? Say no. Found this website. See if it will help you. http://www.womenslaw.org/index.php
  12. When we lived in Texas my husband always had to put down his speeding tickets on job applications that didn't specify traffic tickets. My husband is from Texas and we lived there off and on for 20 years. To my knowledge it is the only state that will give a 6th grader a ticket for "disorderly conduct: obscene gesture". He flipped the bird from one bus to another on a field trip. (his friend on the other bus was doing it back but wasn't seen doing it by a teacher) AND an 8th grader (different son) a ticket for "Disruption of school activity" because some other kids had surrounded him before school trying to pick a fight. Teachers witnessed it, my son and 2 others were suspended and given tickets the next day because of the 'stir it made during the day'. I hate night court.
  13. i actually make my son's go outside to put it on. the times they forget .. let's just say it has been a long time since the last time. (mid-winter .. temps -10.. windows open to the apt)
  14. Here the pre-reqs for the ADN are high school algebra, biology, and chemistry with an 75 Regents or 85 Non-regents. No math classes during the course of study. All Anatomy, Micro, Eng, Psy, humanities, ect are all co-reqs . (personally I am doing them all BEFORE nursing classes) TEAS test is also required with a minimum of 58.7. There are only 128 seats every Fall and it all hinges on the TEAS test. No waiting list.. have to wait a year to retake the TEAS. (most that get in are getting at least 80's on the TEAS)
