Published

As a prospective student, I sometimes get "scared off" reading alot of the posts on allnurses.

So many UNHAPPY nurses and AWFUL job situations.

So, since I would like to accentuate the positive,,, I would like an informal survey of Nurses who Are happy with nursing as their choice of career.

Please let me know that there are GOOD WORKING ENVIRONMENTS out there!!!!!!

I love many things about nursing. The things I don't care for - the cause of so much dissatisfaction is.....the system is run by corp power. Unhappiness can stem from understaffing, exhausting shifts, stress from numerous sources, unhealthy enviroments.....etc etc

I started wondering how can we ( healthcare professionals) teach wellness

to our patients when the facility we work in does not support nurse health

and we end up stressed ( # 1 disease) then sick and tired?

Best to you...

I am an RN and I love, love, love nursing and talk it up to anyone will listen. ;) ;) My daughter worked as an RN for 6 years and now she has just graduated with her MSN degree as a family nurse practitioner.

Don't let the naysayers bring you down! There are unhappy people in every profession and nursing is no exception.

Good luck! :nurse:

I couldn't imagine doing anything else but nursing! I have always enjoyed it, but have only come to love it since moving to the emergency department nearly 6 months ago. My only regret is that I didn't start my nursing career sooner than I did. :)

I also agree that, for many of us, Nursing was a calling. I would do it all over again (Nursing school, that is....Of course, I would be a much better student!)

If I won the powerball jackpot I wouldn't work, but since that hasn't happened, I do enjoy being a nurse. I like the hospital, I feel valued, and my coworkers are great. The Christmas bonus is a nice one too.

Specializes in OB, M/S, HH, Medical Imaging RN.

The great thing about nursing is that they are so many different areas in which you can work. If you get tired of one you can move on to another. I think the money is good, once you get a few years in and the flexibility is unmatched. Nursing is an awesome profession.
