Sleepy: while studying

I've been taking 10mg of lexapro and 36mg of generic concerta daily for my ADD. While I'm studying on my bed, I start to feel sleepy within 15-20 minutes. My sleeping schedule is usually is set at 2am for bed time and I wake up around 10am earlier that day. So why do I feel sleepy when I'm reading my book, if I'm getting enough rest? If I was given the opportunity to go to a music concert or museum, I would do that right now...lol

You might be a bit too comfortable on your bed. It’s best to do your studying seated on a comfy chair, matched with a spacious study table where all your stuff like books and highlighters are. Do you work 3rd shift? Why are you going to bed at 2am?

I'm unemployed at the moment and I'm studying for the CNA exam....

I'm puzzled, your on lexapro and concerta; probably long enough know their effects on your body throughout the day. You can get motivated to do something 'fun' but not something like read your text between 23:00-23:30?

No offence, but it sounds like your answer is in the description of complaints.

Well then... I would suggest taking your medications at bedtime if they make you sleepy and also going to bed at a decent hour. Also when you study get rid of all distractions. I know it's hard but it will definitely be worth it in the end

A lot of people with ADD/ADHD have the paradoxical effect that when you take the drugs, you will actually slow down. I have ADHD and I personally have to take Adderall (to focus) and Nuvigil (to stay awake) in order for me to get any work done. It absolutely sucks.

Thats interesting, cuz when I used to take Adderall I was the complete opposite. I was really energized and ready to do work (whatever it may be). When the drug wore off at the end of the day, I would feel a bad crash:headache, dizziness, crankiness, and sometimes tunnel vision.

Irritability is a major common side effect of Adderall (as well as Nuvigil). For me personally, coffee puts me to sleep, which is why I never drink it. Adderall makes me sleepy, which is why I need the Nuvigil -- which is prescribed for change of shift work. Lol.

I believe studying in your bed could be the reason, you're feeling tired. Try sitting upright at a table with appropriate lighting. Take some study breaks that include walking around or stretching, prior to returning?

Good luck.

Studying in bed is likely the issue. Bed = sleep.

When I was taking my CNA class, the fastest way for me to fall asleep was to read my textbook in bed. LOL The couch was the 2nd worst place for the same reason (it's a great place for a nap). The best place for me to study was at the kitchen table, sitting upright on a wooden chair. I focus much better there and I don't have ADD.

My concerta dosage was increased to 54mg. The higher dosage gets me through the day, and I feel more alert while I'm studying on my bed. Anyhoo, thx for all of your input.:D
