Hello everyone!
I thought I would start a topic in regards to SJRSC's spring 2014 Nursing Program.
Today was the 1st day they started accepting applications for spring 2014. I have worked my fingers to the bone in order to get all the required prereqs done in time to be able to apply today and I am so excited, yet nervous. From what I understand we wont be notified until 2 weeks after the last day of application turn ins, Sept. 30, so we have about 6 weeks to ponder our fate. To hope. To dream. To wait. And wait. And wait. Lol. So I figured there may be some other SJRSC 2014 hopefuls out there besides me and by opening up this topic I hope to chat, daydream, share info, and frankly, just be able to talk about any part of the process with someone who "gets it".....because my hubby does not, and hes probably sick of hearing about it already. Haha. Maybe not, hes a good guy, but still I need some other hopefuls to chat with. :)
Is it just me or do u feel an insatiable need to get everything in ur life organized and planned out? Lol. I feel like all hell is gonna break loose for the first semester, trying to manage school and the rest of our life and I want to be organized and I'm making myself nuts. Haha. I'm making detailed chore charts and schedules, trying to organize my cluttered spaces, figure out where in the heck Im going to study at home since my house is small....on and on my mind goes. Maybe I should make some monthly meal plans and have recipes set up and grocery lists made. Maybe I should make a study area in my bedroom in the corner, but then I need some sort of table/study supplies, and maybe I need noise canceling earphones for when I am home because my kids can get noisy. Ugh!! Too many questions and decisions to make. Please tell me ur thinking like this too or I may need some meds. Jk.
Hey girls! Congratulations on making it into the program for Spring 14! I just recently decided to go back to school for nursing (2nd degree). I have a Bachelor's in Special Education...but nursing has always been a passion. I'm 31, married, and have 2 young children. Am I nuts or what?? Anyway, since I already have a BA...I am hoping most of the pre-reqs I need for nursing will transfer. The only things I need are...AP 1 & AP 2...and maybe Microbiology. I took Bacteriology because I was a nursing major first, then switched to Education after my freshman year. I had a passion for both majors...ultimately decided on Special Education...and now I somewhat regret it and really really want to get my nursing degree! I am going to SJR-Palatka in the morning to turn in my official transcripts and a few other forms. I want to talk to an advisor quickly and see if there is any way I can knock AP 1 and AP 2 before May 2014. That's the deadline to get into the program for next Fall. Have you guys ever heard of anyone taking them together? I'm highly motivated and know that I can do it....I'm just not sure if the college will let me! Again...am I nuts? Congrats again and best of luck!
No you are not nuts! I am married with an 8yr old an almosty 2 year old and my husband currently lives 3.5hrs away pursing his degree lol. The school more than likely will not allow you to take them botgh at the same time because one is a pre req for the other, but you may be able to take ap I as a transient student at another school and maybe even ap II depending on how your classed fall and the schedule for the other school as well. I know fscj has different start times for classes and that maybe something to look into, esp if you want to try to do both in the same semester.
Good luck to you!! That would be awesome if you were able to get in for the summer!
