SJRSC Spring 2014 applying/hopeful

Published

Hello everyone!

I thought I would start a topic in regards to SJRSC's spring 2014 Nursing Program. :nurse:

Today was the 1st day they started accepting applications for spring 2014. I have worked my fingers to the bone in order to get all the required prereqs done in time to be able to apply today and I am so excited, yet nervous. From what I understand we wont be notified until 2 weeks after the last day of application turn ins, Sept. 30, so we have about 6 weeks to ponder our fate. To hope. To dream. To wait. And wait. And wait. Lol. So I figured there may be some other SJRSC 2014 hopefuls out there besides me and by opening up this topic I hope to chat, daydream, share info, and frankly, just be able to talk about any part of the process with someone who "gets it".....because my hubby does not, and hes probably sick of hearing about it already. Haha. Maybe not, hes a good guy, but still I need some other hopefuls to chat with. :) ;)

Do you know if we have to all the fingerprinting and drug testing done by Oct 31st as well?

Oh Lord, I didnt know we even had a deadline for all of the stuff to be turned in. LOL! Let me go re-read my paperwork and see what I missed. So to answer your question, I have no idea. Haha.

Btw, I forgot you were taking 5 classes right now, so ignore my previous post about all the madness of trying to get it all together! No need for any pressure!! I havent done most of what Im THINKING needs done, but I am driving myself nuts trying to figure it all out. LOL. But Ive also had 5 classes at once, it was my first semester of going back to school, AND it was Summer A......Holy Stressball!! So I totally understand your extremely limited amount of time to do anything right now. When are your classes over?

education2nursing, I agree with eyesk8too, AP1 is a pre-req for AP2 but its definitely worth finding out if you can or not. If SJRSC wont allow it, then I would try to take one at FSCJ, maybe even an online if the days/times conflict. Hopefully, they will accept your Bacteriology for Micro, that would save you a lot of hassle. Otherwise, you would have to take all three this spring? That would be interesting to say the least....Lol. Good luck, let us know what they say, you have me curious now. And thanks for the congrats, we are both super excited to get started in January!!

I see the deadline on the paperwork now....I completely ignored the part where is mentioned Oct 31. Ugh. It says we have to turn in our letter of confirmation and authorization forms, what qualifies as authorization forms??

Well I found out a couple of things today.

CPR classes are ridiculous to find available. The St Vincent's on Brananfield wont offer any until next yr and OPMC doesn't have any on their calendar for the rest of the year unless something changes, but they don't know when or if anything could change. The Red Cross offers them but its closest location is in Jax on Riverside. They offer different kinds of CPR classes and I have no idea which one we need, so I've decided to just deal with the CPR situation after orientation.

And I talked to our Worksource rep at Sjrsc. I had apparently filled out the survey but not the application, did u fill out the application? There was a link for us to copy/paste at the end of that survey that leads us to the application and we fill it out and then someone emails us within a day or two with detailed instructions. But part of those instructions will include us providing paperwork and taking 3 assessment tests to see if we qualify. So if u haven't done the application portion u may want to do it asap and get the process going. :)

Thanks! Yes I did the application and we have like 21papers to go through and fill out and the assessments are like 1.5hrs and 3.5hrs ugh. I think we need the basic cpr..but im not sure either and I have no idea what counyts as authorization forms, I was hoping you knew that! lol

Oh and my classes Dec 13th. My transient class ends Nov 17th though so after that I will only have 4 classes woohoo lol.

Oh and my classes Dec 13th. My transient class ends Nov 17th though so after that I will only have 4 classes woohoo lol, so I am super happy about that and am sooo ready for a break. I am pretty sure I will hit panic mode the week before classes start! I hear the first semester is like nursing school boot camp and thats where the weakest links are weeded out so we will have to make sure we get through it together!

Getting fingerprinted tomorrow and just have to figure out when I am going to get the drug testing done since they dont do that on the weekends! Do you know where the UPS store on Blanding 32073 is?

I got the fingerprinting and drug testing do done today, whew! It sucks that they dont do drug testing on weekends. :( There are 2 UPS stores on Blanding, but the 410 Blanding location, which is where I went, is across the street from Orange Park High School, right next to Jersey Mike's subs. The other Blanding location is further up Blanding, towards Middleburg. Its in the shopping center with Publix and Taco Bell. I was happy to find out we didnt have to pay for either the drug testing or the fingerprints, those barcodes on the paperwork we had to print was our "payment". :)

On a different note, do you wanna "friend" up on Facebook? Do you Facebook?? Lol. I feel like we talk so much it would be easier to connect on Facebook. We can get to know each other even before we meet. :) If your not comfortable with Facebooking yet because we havent meet in person, that is TOTALLY FINE! It will not offend me at all! I promise. I just thought since Im always on FB, and maybe you were too?, that it would be a nice way to chat. :)

If you want to, just private message me on here, how to find you on Facebook and Ill send you my info back. :)

Poo - my previous comment didnt post :( I did my fingerprinting yesterday afternoon, will try to do the drug test on monday if possible, i have to drop another form off at the school ugh -they forgot to send me my background authorization form! Its great we didnt have to pay for the fingerprinting and drugtest - wish we didnt have to pay for the background check too lol!

So excited to be getting things done!
