SJRSC Spring 2014 applying/hopeful

Hello everyone!

I thought I would start a topic in regards to SJRSC's spring 2014 Nursing Program. :nurse:

Today was the 1st day they started accepting applications for spring 2014. I have worked my fingers to the bone in order to get all the required prereqs done in time to be able to apply today and I am so excited, yet nervous. From what I understand we wont be notified until 2 weeks after the last day of application turn ins, Sept. 30, so we have about 6 weeks to ponder our fate. To hope. To dream. To wait. And wait. And wait. Lol. So I figured there may be some other SJRSC 2014 hopefuls out there besides me and by opening up this topic I hope to chat, daydream, share info, and frankly, just be able to talk about any part of the process with someone who "gets it".....because my hubby does not, and hes probably sick of hearing about it already. Haha. Maybe not, hes a good guy, but still I need some other hopefuls to chat with. :) ;)

Idk we find out everything at orientation, I'm hoping so though. It seems like we would have to have some sort of schedule by then because we have to buy books and supplies and all that fun stuff. They also have to tell us what shots to get and any other mandatory things that must be done by Jan, I'm just hoping we get all the details at orientation. I know we need shots and a CPR class....I'm thinking I may go ahead and get to work on those things since I know they are required, its a couple less things to juggle in the end. I'm going to turn in my acceptance letter tomorrow. :) Maybe I can see someone from Worksource while I'm at it.....I dont want to wait until orientation day, I'm a doer, I NEED to do something!! Hahaha.

P.S. I'm happy to know someone in the program that will be dealing with kids, a hubby, and classes.....I think we are both in for the ride of our life, but its all for a purpose and we can do it! Plenty of other women have done it, so I'm sure the first month will kick our ever loving butts due to having to rearrange our lives, but hopefully it will get a smidge easier once we find our groove. Unfortunately, I have heard from a friends friend who is in the program now, at sjrsc, that it is wayyyy hard and our lives will pretty much be over once we start....Eeeek! I'm just expecting the worst case scenario then maybe it'll be easier than I thought. Lol.

Yeah - I need to find out where to do the CPR class - I am usually a doer too but im taking 5 classes this semester and am going crazy lol. Yes we need atleast some from of a schedule, hopefully they are organized. I heard that it is impossible to work and go to nursing school - ahhh! I think once I get through the 1st semester without failing it will be okay..atleast arranging my schedule - I dont know about anything else. I am glad too! We can be each others buddys - i have a feeling we may need it(of course if you want too).

What exactly is worksource? Im going to try to turn my papers in tomorrow. I have to be in St Aug at 9am so i may not make it lol but I will certainly try

Yes, we need all the buddies we can get for this adventure! Haha. Worksource is some thing that offers help to ppl who need help getting their books and supplies for nursing school. Im pretty sure they get all ur family/household info and look at ur income and help u with buying books and supplies. It said on our paperwork that a worksource rep would be at orientation to talk to, but I figured I'd try to get things started with them, if I can, because Idk how long the process takes and I need all the help I can get buying all the junk we are going to need. Ill find out more when I go tomorrow and ill let u know what they say. But I do have two friends who went to fscj for their nursing program and both of them got help worksource, both got all of their books and supplies paid for. So lets hope we can get some help too!

Oh okay, i just filled out the application thing online..i figure if i dont qualify now then Im sure I will once school starts since I wont be working anymore. At least hopefully I will qualify! I hear everything is pretty expensive..yikes! Study buddies we shall be then and together we will pass nursing school lol!

Please do let me know what you find out from them - I would greatly appreciate it.

Well I cant make it up to the school today to turn in my letter. :( My oldest daughter has type 1 diabetes and we are dealing with some wonky blood sugars today and I hate to leave her for even 5 mins when its as low as it is. Ill just tell myself that as long as I get it in this week, Ill be happy. :) So you filled out the app for Worksource online? I tried to find it on their page, but couldnt figure out what to fill out.....where did you go online and what did you click on in order to get to that application?

Aww that is tough, I hope she is doing better now! I went to worksourcefl.com and then clicked on the employment opportunities link on the left hand side and when the page opens scroll down towards the middle/bottom and it will have a link to click on that says "survey", fill out the survey and then view the orientation and fill out the application - if you qualify then you will get an email that contains all the paperwork and instructions that have to be done. It is like 21 pages! I will have to talk to the rep though because I have a job so some of the items do not apply to me but it makes it seem like it is required, but we shall see! Hope this helps!

If I am able to leave my house early enough tomorrow I am going to try to drop off the paper - it is just the one sheet right, nothing else?

You are welcome! Thank you - i want to make sure I turn in all the appropriate paperwork, I would hate to lose my spot because I missed a page! Do you know what time orientation starts Nov 12? I have class until 11am that day in St. Aug - im at work now and can't look up the times:eek:

Hmmm, Idk. My paper is at home but I'm in palm coast for the night. I thought it was 11-3? But I'm not sure.
