SJRSC Spring 2014 applying/hopeful

Hello everyone!

I thought I would start a topic in regards to SJRSC's spring 2014 Nursing Program. :nurse:

Today was the 1st day they started accepting applications for spring 2014. I have worked my fingers to the bone in order to get all the required prereqs done in time to be able to apply today and I am so excited, yet nervous. From what I understand we wont be notified until 2 weeks after the last day of application turn ins, Sept. 30, so we have about 6 weeks to ponder our fate. To hope. To dream. To wait. And wait. And wait. Lol. So I figured there may be some other SJRSC 2014 hopefuls out there besides me and by opening up this topic I hope to chat, daydream, share info, and frankly, just be able to talk about any part of the process with someone who "gets it".....because my hubby does not, and hes probably sick of hearing about it already. Haha. Maybe not, hes a good guy, but still I need some other hopefuls to chat with. :) ;)

I've also applied I fall in cat 2. What cat are you in?

Hi ! I've applied too! Very anxious to see if i get in or not, it's driving me crazy! My GPA puts me in category one, but my test scores put me in category 2.. so i guess we will see! keeping my fingers crossed! Which category are you in? I'm curious as to how many people they accept, compared to how many applicants they get?

I'm in cat 1. But I'm also curious how many applications they will get versus how many spots are available. :/ Id love to think being cat 1 was a shoe in, but spots available is the big question. Definitely anxious to find out.

Do either of u know anyone who has applied? Were they accepted or denied? Have u heard any good or bad reports on the actual program? My sis has a friend in the program and she loves it, no complaints. :)

Well that's good to hear they love it! I do know two girls that are in the program right now, but I havent really spoken with them about how they like it. They both were accepted for fall enrollment. Pretty sure if you are in category 1 with both your test score and GPA, you should be good to go.They told me they accept all of the students from category one and then move to category 2. But i guess that is assuming that they don't have many students in category one.

I am in cat 1 for GPA and for Hesi scores and I had also heard that all cat 1 ppl get in then they move to cat 2, just wish I had some sort of secret op intelligence force behind the scenes that could just call me up and tell me how my chances look. Lol!!! So if ur GPA is in cat 1 and ur test scores are cat 2, what category does that make u? Still a cat 1? If not u would be cat 2 with a high score since ur GPA is good?

Yeah I think that puts me in category 2, but I don't really know because it says " you must have a composite score of 85 or better with an 85 or better in reading and math" and my composite score is an 85 but for math I got an 84... So idk, I'm assuming that puts me in category 2, but at least I'll be high up in cat 2... I know what you mean though ! I hate how long we have to wait to find out !

Well today is the last day for nursing applications to be turned in.....which means we should know if we got in or not soon! I'm figuring it'll take a couple wks, but I will still be checking the mail daily like an OCD freak. Lol!!! Is anyone doing anything in preparation for January, "just in case". I have been working on getting house stuff organized and decluttered and I've been brushing up on my AP and Med Terminology....yes, I'm a freak like that. Haha.

I am very anxious to find out! I am a category 2 for GPA but just barely. I got a B in microbiology and that brought my gpa down to a category 2. I am in a category 1 for HESI - 94% Math, 92% English, 92% Reading. I have my fingers and toes crossed to get in! I know someone in the program now and she loves it, but she started out as an LPN so she may not find it as hard lol. I heard the acceptance rates depend on how many from each category applied and if it is close then they go by who applied first!

I turned my application in Sept 3 at 8:03am. Hope that was early enough! Goodluck everyone!

Haha....eyesk8too, I bet we passed each other on Sept 3! I was there at 8:05. I had also heard that they would go by who applied first if push came to shove. After I dropped off my application, my husband and I sat in the parking lot for like 30 minutes waiting to see if we saw other people walking in with apps. Lol. (FYI, I didnt see any, lol) I was told we would know something within 2 weeks of the Sept 30 deadline......so I will be stalking my mailman until I get the letter.....haha. If anyone gets there letter, please post it on here so we all know ours is on the way! :)

haha we probably did! I was in such a nervous daze that I was not fully aware of my surroundings lol. I went to my car and then drove to St. Augustine for class - I was so nervous I wanted to vomit :barf02:

I am trying very hard not to stalk my mailman - thankfully I am not home when s/he comes but starting next week my anxiety is going to increase times 10!:nailbiting: I can not wait to find out and hopefully it is an acceptance because I will cry if it isnt!:scrying:
