Should I worry that I received a C in Anatomy?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am in the process of applying to a local state college for their BSN program. All of my other grades are good, except for Anatomy. The minimum requirements are a grade of C or better in: Anatomy, Human Development, and Biological/Organic Chemistry II. They also want applicants to have a GPA of 2.5 or better. Mine is a 3.5. Am I worrying too much, or should I try to repeat Anatomy before applying? :crying2::uhoh3::stone

C = Continue. Whats the difference between a Nurse who made a C and a Nurse who made an A? Nothing, their both Nurses.

I wouldn't worry too much. However, I know that I my school they do look at specific grades (basically, the co-reqs like A&P, Micro, Human Dev) when they are sorting through applicants. But you have a good GPA, so it may not matter.

It sounds to me like you might be worrying too much a 3.5 gpa is very good. Is admission to the program based on gpa only? If so do you know what the cutoff gpa was for the last class? That would be the determining factor to help me decide if I wanted to take the class over again.

I would talk to the nursing department before applying or repeating a class.

Good luck and I hope things work out for you.

Don't worry! It's not the end of the world if you got a C. Anatomy is one of the toughest classes (I'm taking it right now) and it's more about knowing the information than what percent you got on the test. As long as you really put some effort into it and worked hard, stop beating yourself up! :icon_hug: This past semester I got a C in chemistry and was freaking out (and a cocky co-worker wasen't helping me feel better...:angryfire ) but it's okay. I felt like I knew the information and the tests didn't reflect all of the knowledge I'd gained on that material. If you really want to retake it, it's always an option but first talk to your academic advisor. My nursing program is also based on *community service* and related experience in the medical field (are you a CNA, phlebotomist, MA, etc?) Grades aren't everything. And like medic2bsn said, C=continue!

Don't beat yourself up over it, Anatomy is a VERY hard class. I made a C in it myself, and I was a very good student with a high GPA.

Like we used to say in nursing school, "C = RN" !!!

'C' doesn't mean continue at my school. They require a B or better in both A & P I and A & P II. Is that unusual?

I received C's in both A&P I and II. For II I thought I really had a B going until I recently received my grades. Must have screwed up on the final.

I'm applying for a BSN so they look at overall GPA (you need at least a C in all pre-reqs), letters of recommendation and resume.

I have never heard of a school that doesn't accept C's. I've always felt that a person is an entire package. I may not be great in anatomy right now but I enjoy taking care of people.

No, don't take them over. If you don't get in find out why and if you need to boost your GPA do it over then.

C's , especially in the science classes are not considered competitive grades in my school either.....A&P grades are the most important and are the key to get into our nursing school. Sorry to rain on anybodies parade.

Yes, you rained. :o But that's OK. I should have studied harder. :crying2:

My university requires a B in many of the pre-req's. But then again, it is not based on the admission process, but rather on rolling admissions. Perhaps that is why.

But A&P is definitely a hard class, so don't beat yourself up over it. Look ahead and perhaps try evaluating your study habits because nursing school will be quite tough and requires a lot of time on your part. But focus on getting in the program and focus on doing well. :)
