OK, just kidding. Wondering why people ask total strangers on the internet for advise regarding major life changes. I don't want to name names, but a lot of people come to this site and ask questions better answered by people closer to the situation...
People do this on other Internet forums that I lurk on also. I don't really understand why people think a stranger on the internet can make a very personal life changing decision for them. We can share similar experiences, but that's about it. In the end if someone is considering a move to Hawaii/quitting their job/becoming a Buddhist then they either will or they won't. These posters would be a lot better off asking close friends/family for that kind of input.Oh well.
Yes, but on this forum, you might get advice from someone who has actually done the same thing and may give you some valuable tips.
Now it is different if an OP is asking "should" I do it. That is different. That is soliciting opinions on whether or not to take the action. It is different to state the possible intent to take the action and the solicit advice on the pros and cons.
Remember the width of your life is just as important if not more important than the length of your life. For some people living in HI is on their bucket list. Selling a house, quitting a job and moving anywhere is a big step and it only make sense to gather as much information as you can before actually pulling the trigger.
What is up with the need for posters to constantly be downing other posters on this forum? Every day is another post belittling others behavior. So some people don't use proper English...or they ask dumb questions...or they come here looking for the answers to the universe...and yes, God forbid, they don't agree with you *gasp!*.
Turn off the computer, build a bridge and get over it already.

You DO realize that your post was a perfect example of "belittling other people's behavior"?

OP, I want to come, too, and so do many others, at least according to the poll. You're going to need a bigger boat.
