Well I am now CPNE eligible passed Transition to the Professional Registered nurse role this afternoon with a "B". :bluecry1:Unfortunately with all this stuff going on with our lovely BON it seems it may be all for naught. I guess for now I'm going to hold of on applying and see where things go. I'm already enrolled in several online classes for fall at a local college (core I need for my BSN) guess I'll wait to the end of the semester and re-evaluate my situation:banghead:.

I am sorry this is a time where you should feel excited and ready for the CPNE challenge, then on to the NCLEX. You are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope everything works out for you. No matter what you have still accomplished something great. I live in Virginia, so I know what you are going through. :yeah:

*hugs* I'm sorry ... this whole GA situation just has my stomach in absolute knots, and I don't even live there! So I can't even imagine how distressing it must be for you.
Well after talking to my husband tonight I think if things don't change we may be looking to move to either Texas (where he grew up) or South Carolina. I hate to think about up-rooting my kids and moving away from all my family but maybe it is just god's plan for us . He is going to talk to his friend in Houston and send out a few resumes and see where things go.

My heart goes out to you. Join us at their next meeting, it is in September I do not have the dates to post right now, but seems they are under the Region GA Forum. On the GBON web site, they say they sympathize with EC students. Hopefully they can offer a resolution the same way other states have when changing their laws. Take care and hang in there.

I'm with you on the whole moving thing, at least short term. I wonder if we will ever be able to get a Georgia license??? I was raised in Texas, but I have no desire to go back!! South Carolina or Tennessee may be a good option for me, we shall see??

Wait, don't put the CPNE on hold! I so, fell for ya'll but think about ti like this we don't know what the GABONis going to decide, but while waiting them out you could take the CPNE, then NClex (for Minnisota or something), And go work for the VA. They have hospitals, and clinics, all over the US, and as long as you are an RN in one state that is all they care about.
That way id the GABON, changes their mind at a later time or, put in "X" amount of hours in clinical practice, before EC nurses can endorse in, you will have all of your ducks in a row. And if it doens't turn out that way, you'll still be an RN, and will have to work from there.
Stay positive, and stay focused, thet is the only way you can see yourself through this.

GaNurse31763, go ahead and complete your CPNE application if you can. It will put itself on hold with the long wait time that has to lapse for a date. A friend of my just completed hers a couple of weekends ago. But she told me that one of her colleague from work had been told by EXCELSIOR to cancel her CPNE date. I am not sure how true it is but she felt it may be that Excelsior is about the revamp the clinical to comply with GA's new rules. You guys may get lucky and be able to do a rotation instead of an exam. Either way you need to push forward. If GA does have a change of heart...or if the Attorney's for Excelsior and the GA Nurses Association are able to successfully appeal to the GA Supreme Court, you need to be ready. I am sure they will give GA students rushed CPNE or clinical dates.

That's such a wonderful idea. I agree with you completely. I also think that the GBON will be able to offer something to thse of you who are almost finished. The same way California did when they made the decision to no longer allow Excelsior Grads to sit for boards.
I'm really praying and holding out that the GA BON will at least grandfather the rest of currently enrolled students in but you guys are right about plan B. I really don't want to move and had planned on staying with the hospital I work with due to the nice large pay increase ( I already make starting RN pay for the area as an LPN). VA hospital/clinics really aren't much of an option for me as there aren't any close. I think at this point if it comes down to it we'll just put our house on the market and see what happens.
