SHOES: Are Dansko comfortable?

what is your favorite shoe and why?

i was wondering what shoes are the most comfortable.

i have heard that dansko's are well made and very comfortable.

i would like to purchase a quality shoe.

I love my Dansko's. I have three pairs of them. I was having problems with plantar fasciitis when a coworker suggested I try Dansko's. My PF improved almost immediately. I do caution people who ask me about them that they are not for everybody...at least not in a work setting. I know a few people who have tried them and hated them. I know many people who love them as much as I do. A lot depends on your own foot structure. Also, fit is important. For the professional clog you are supposed to "size up" from your normal shoe size. I am a size 7 which is a 37 in the European sizing. In Dansko's I wear a 38.

I'm a nursing student and am required to wear nursing shoes for clinicals. I bought Dansko clogs on sale for about $90 after hearing they were the best. I hate them but refuse to buy a new pair until I graduate. I roll my ankle at least once a shift and they are so tight across the top of my foot that I have to take them off whenever possible (including while driving) b/c my feet go numb. I would not recommend them. On a good note, however, they are very rugged and they are clearly going to last forever! I also work as an LNA and I wear Skecher athletic shoes for work which are very light and comfortable, though not very stylish.

I have two pair of shoes Birkenstock and crocs and I love them both.

Though, at night shifts I prefer to work with the crocs becouse they feel, considerably, lighter on the leg

I didn't have good luck with the Danskos due to the ankle-rolling. I swear by Nike Shox. I buy extra inserts for them at the shoe store. I noticed my knee pain disappears when I wear them and even after 14 hours of running, my feet are never sore.

I love Dansko. The rest of my body may feel like I got run over by a truck, but my feet feel fine. There is one brand I want to check out, though...MBT. They are ugly, ugly, ugly, but if they work... Has anyone tried them?

I wear Dansko's as well and they work really well for me. I have lower back problems and these are the only shoes that I can wear that won't cause me to be in excruciating pain by the end of a 12 hour shift. I haven't had any problems with ankle rolling (knock on wood) and I actually am able to run in them when needed. I wear the pita style . I think the key to Dansko's is making sure that they fit properly so be sure to try a couple of pair on....

As for the MBT's....I was thinking of trying those out as well. 5 nurses on my floor bought them. They loved them at first but after about a month or two I noticed that they all went back to their old shoes. One nurse said they really bothered her back, and another one said the shoes made her throw out her hip.......With a 250.00+ price tag I decided not to take a chance on them.....

Some of the nurses also wear Spira's and they swear by those.....

I have a pair of Danskos that I paid over $100 for, wore exactly twice, and there they sit in my closet. They may *get* comfortable, but I can't stand feeling like I'm wearing bricks on my feet long enough to find out

Today I bought a pair of Nike Air somethingorothers...with springy things in the heel. They were comfy as all get out in the store...we'll seeeeeee....

Hmmmm...what a difference a year can make! Found out I bought those Danskos too small...they need to fit loose on your heel. I have three pairs now and have found the trick is to switch shoes daily. I also wear New Balance walkers and love them!!

The rest of me may ache after three 12-hour days but my feet and legs sure don't

I have 3 pr of Danskos and I love them. The only "uniform" I wear now is a lab coat, but I usually wear Danskos to work. The thing with them is that they have an instep that needs to be fitted correctly, or they will kill your feet. I also wear Crocs occasionally, love them too.

well, the whole twisted ankle thing is a no-go for me! anyone try clogz?? my crocs are hurting and i need a change!

I HATED my Danskos and gave them plenty of time, around 6 months. I know they are supposed to be ergonomic and provide back support, etc. they were just too doggone hard on my soles.

About a month ago I found a pair of Dr. Scholls clogs, of all brands, that I just LOVE. They fit my wide feet and have the gel inserts that cushion all the pressure points I stand on, e.g. balls/heels; I can't remember the model but I found them at Wal-Mart (GRR I didn't have a choice, was the only place to buy cheap scrubs) for around $25.00. They also have very soft arch supports and are also kinda cute with little zippers on the sides. :balloons:

I've tried just about everything but Danskos are unbeatable for me because I have a high arch. I think for those who may not need a lot of arch support a softer sole may be best.

I have 2 pairs of Sanitas(same shoe as Danskos, they made them for Dansko for years and then Dansko moved the factory to China..Sanitas are still handmade)and they work for me, although they took a couple of shifts to break in properly. Also, I went a size up because they aren't supposed to fit snugly. I wear a size 8 but my Sanitas are a 39.

My other pair are C&C clogs from Sweden..they are designed by a nurse and handmade as well. These shoes are fantastic! They have a springy feel to them and feel quite secure, so I'm not worried about rolling my ankle.

I rotate my shoes between these 3 pairs.
