Did anyone interview for SHARP MICU or Medsurg?

I am getting the impression that it was the University of Oklahoma students who got the priority for interviews. I am just wondering, I know the school is affiliated with Sharp, does this mean there were guaranteed jobs for you guys at Sharp? I'm only asking out of curiosity. Thanks!

No. There is no guarantee that we even get interviews. I think it does help that we do all our clincals at sharp, but in no way is there ever a guarantee that we all get jobs there. Many alumni work at all different hospitals, local and otherwise.

Has Memorial hired all their new grads? Just wondering if anyone has heard anything from the Adult Health residency program.

Memorial is still interviewing people for their Residency Program. If you have not been called yet, you are out of the running, unless they don't find anyone in the 40 people that they are interviewing.

@Craziechik - I am not from University of Oklahoma and have had interviews with Sharp Memorial. I don't think they have a priority for anyone. When I consulted my preceptor about that she said the U of Oklahoma students USED to all get hired at Sharps, but due to the tough job market, that is no longer the case.

Has anyone else here interviewed with sharp memorial??

I had my phone interview with Sharp Memorial on Monday May 9th after I was called at the end of April. I'm an OU grad, class of December 2010. Just wondering if any of those who had phone interviews have been contacted about a panel interview..I know we're supposed to hear by June 5, but has anything started to happen? Or does anyone have more details as to when/how we will be contacted? June 5th feels like a million years away!

Or does anyone have more details as to when/how we will be contacted? June 5th feels like a million years away!

They will be calling us via phone to let us know if we will or won't be having the panel interview. At least we will be notified if we didn't move on. Best of luck to you :) I'm nervous because I told them I wanted to go onto critical care once the residency program was finished. What area do you want to work in?

Katie33, I told them I'd like to work in MedSurg but I didn't know that we also get rotations in PCU. I'd love to work there also. Are you currently working? When did you graduate? (I've been working for 2.5 months in skilled nursing in San Diego and at a psych hospital in San Bernardino. But that's the extent of my medical experience.) I'm anxious to know when callbacks/emails start getting sent out since I don't know anyone else who got a phone interview. Let's keep each other informed!

To anyone who had a panel interview with Sharp Chula Vista's Med Surg/Telemetry Residency Program, did any of youhear back regarding offers yet? I had interviewed May 5th and havent heard back from them, so I'm kinda thinking I didn't get the position! Just wondering if anyone else had heard back yet!

Hi SDchick,

I had an interview on May 18th and asked the manager when she anticipated contacting applicants that they plan on hiring. She said she was going to be going out of town and would be notifying people around June 6th. I am not sure how long it will take them to contact everyone, though. Good luck! :)

I just graduated (in the end of may) so I currently do not have a job. I was a nurse extern/preceptor at Sharp Memorial on their surgical floor, but had to give that up once I finished school. Thats good you have experience though, even if it is just at a SNF! I hope call-backs come during the beginning of the week, and I hope I get one! So crazy how many of us applied and how little they are taking. Only one other (that I know of) from my class at SDSU got a phone interview so I don't think there are too many of us lucky ones left. I really hope me saying that I wanted SICU/MICU doesn't hurt my chances.
