Hello everyone! Sharp new grad’s application opened on Monday (2/17). I just wanted to make this so we can all keep each other updated. ?

I had applied for spring 2020, got an interview for ICU, but unfortunately did not get hired. So here I am, round 2! ?

good luck everyone!!

I got an email this morning for Memorial PCU to rank my choices! Still deciding which order to rank! Anyone else?

Yeah I got the email too!

Hello! Does anyone know if we can resubmit/update our submitted resumes when we applied for the residency? It's because I've been hired to a SNF after the application closed and I think that that'll somehow help. Thanks guys and good luck to us!

I have not been able to update my resume once the application window was already closed. But I have interviewed for sharp before and the first thing they asked was if I had an updated resume I would like to share. I’m sorry that is not super helpful.

Has anybody heard back from any Sharp facility? or anyone that has applied to Chula Vista heard back from them? I wonder if they will lag a little on getting back to us with COVID-19 going on. ?

I'm sure it's going to have some effects on hiring, especially the interview process. I was in another state interviewing recently and they were doing interviews all through February and March; however, to what I've heard, they've all gone to Skype or phone interviews. Assuming Sharp still hires, I wouldn't be surprised if they do something similar.

Also, I was completing my senior internships at Sharp and they were one of the first in SD County to stop allowing students. Not that this necessarily means anything, but might me hiring new grads is not their top priority right now or in the foreseeable future.

Has your school said anything about being online for the rest of the semester? I'm starting to stress on the situation bc we just got word from one of our professors saying that the BRN is still enforcing clinical hours & preceptorships, thus having to extend the semester ? So we may not even be graduating in May bc of this whole ordeal. For my rotation I am also in my senior year and placed at Sharp and they have canceled on us until further notice. This will definitely back track everything.. unless Sharp is understanding of this situation *cries*

So I got an email from Sharp today around 7pm from Sharp Memorial Residency Program saying COVID19 has caused application delays and applications will continue to be removed over the next 4 weeks with a tentative goal of sending updates within those next 4 weeks.

In regard to school, all of our remaining classroom/lecture/didactic work is online and clinical is cancelled. I'm not sure were we stand in regard to hours and units because the state requirement is confusing, but our director seems to think we'll be okay to graduate. What program are you in?

Oh that's nice of Memorial to at least keep you guys up to date with the current situation. I received an invitation to Self-Identify last week, but that's pretty much it. No word from Sharp CV or Grossmont, yet. But thank you for letting me know that it could possibly be within or more than 4 weeks!

I am currently at Southwestern College and as far as I know the BRN states that we need 75% of actual clinical hours at a facility and 25% of it can be through an online simulation. But, with COVID-19 among us it's throwing everyone's rotation around. My professors have assured us that we will be graduating, but due to the current situation it might be pushed back. I know there's a petition going around right now that many nursing student's have signed to get the BRN to loosen up their regulations bc nobody was expecting this outbreak. I really do hope they change it that way we aren't impacted by this and get to graduate on time. What program are you in? And what has your school said about replacing your clinical hours?

I'm at CSUSM. They haven't put out a plan yet, but we finished all of our required rotations per the BRN, which is geriatrics, med/surg, pediatrics, OB, and mental health. We were doing community and internship this semester, both of which got cancelled.

Has anyone gotten any update on Grossmont Hospital regarding application status or COVID-19 affecting the time on the applications?

Nope. All I got was the self-identity email thing and my application still says under consideration. No update about the COVID-19 or anything.
