Has anyone on here applied to this program?
True. Anything can happen in the span of 3 months, though! So there's still hope. At least, that's what I tell myself! Is SFSU the last school in the Bay area to notify it's applicants?
I'm not sure UCSF is out yet, I think most people prefer UCSF over SFSU, but it's pretty tough with 2 interview rounds.
UCSF notifies way earlier than SFSU - applicants learned of acceptance mid-Feb. All Nurses is a wealth of info if you want to read up on other schools/programs. Here is the UCSF MEPN 2014 link: https://allnurses.com/post-graduate-nursing/2014-ucsf-mepn-847407.html. Their applications are due way earlier and I didn't have my pre-reqs done at that point. It is the #4 program in the country & highly competitive but another amazing school. For me besides the pre-reqs, the biggest deterrents were the full GRE + 100k + in tuition. Anyway, those accepted to USF had to tell the school Monday if they accepted and the program begins May 19th.
As soon as we know who was accepted, I would love to start a Facebook page!
Oookay, now I'm discouraged again. I called again just now and asked about if there is an overall waitlist - no. I mentioned how I called one day and they said I was 8, and the next day said I was 2. She looked me up and said I am 8, there must have been a mistake last time. And there are 8 on the waitlist, so I am last on the list. Sad sad
Also she said only 2 are admitted! Maybe women's health was one of the least popular so they took spaces away to make more room for more popular concentrations.
@Nicamama yeah I was shocked when she said that. I didn't think they would take away spots for less popular emphases, and I didn't think women's health would be among the least popular. It's just so weird since they usually admit 40-50 students, meaning about 10 spots per emphasis. And now there are 2 admitted to women's health and 8 on the waitlist.. seems like in previous years all 10 of us should have gotten in.
I think the reason SFSU only admitted 20 students this year is because of the new curriculum. We will be the first GMSN students on it. 2013 they did not even admit GMSN students. 2013 was also the first year the BSN students started the new curriculum.
Oh, I didn't realize that. Oh well, in the likely event that I don't get in this year I'll just try that much harder next year. Congrats on being one of the two admitted, that's a great accomplishment!
