  1. Hey everyone-just wondering if any others on here got in or if there or any other admitted students we haven't heard from? Orientation is around the corner. Getting excited!
  2. UCSF notifies way earlier than SFSU - applicants learned of acceptance mid-Feb. All Nurses is a wealth of info if you want to read up on other schools/programs. Here is the UCSF MEPN 2014 link: https://allnurses.com/post-graduate-nursing/2014-ucsf-mepn-847407.html. Their applications are due way earlier and I didn't have my pre-reqs done at that point. It is the #4 program in the country & highly competitive but another amazing school. For me besides the pre-reqs, the biggest deterrents were the full GRE + 100k + in tuition. Anyway, those accepted to USF had to tell the school Monday if they accepted and the program begins May 19th. As soon as we know who was accepted, I would love to start a Facebook page!
  3. @jil89 UCLA is a great school! But don't give up just yet. Did you call the SON?
  4. I completely agree @Nicamama that we can't be the only ones notified but given that the cohort is only 20 people, it is entirely possible that we're the only ones communicating on all nurses. We had our acceptance verified so I don't think there's a need to worry. I did reach out to someone in admissions at the SON & he shared that those that accept an offer of admission would be receiving info from the SON the week of 5/5. What info did the SON give you?
  5. Has anyone else gotten any updates??
  6. @fancyeyes: 1. Login to SF State Gateway; Application Status 2. See a green checkmark that says Accepted; Click Accept/Decline Admission (*Note saying once you accept or decline you will no longer see this screen) 3. Following day, receive an e-mail: "Thank you for accepting your offer of admission for the Fall 2014 semester. We have generated your official SF State student email account. During your time as a student at SF State we will use this email address to communicate important information and deadlines to you. Please make a note of your account name and address." 4. Now Application has gone back to complete 5. Admission confirmed via Graduate School & SON. If you need further clarification, I'd advise you make a call to the SON or Graduate Admissions.
  7. Actually @fancyeyes we were notified via SF Gateway. We just followed up to verify.
  8. Yes, I confirmed I was admitted this morning!!! Woohoo!! I hope everyone hears good news soon!!
  9. @v4endetta thank you! That happened to me last night too!! I was so excited. Then, I refreshed and it went back to the green circle or "complete." I called the Graduate Office today & they said that they just switched to a new system and it has some kinks in it but that it should be updated in 24 hours. Then, today I also received an e-mail thanking me for accepting admission & giving me my e-mail address soooo I think I'm in? I also called the SON and they said that they're not e-mailing info out until the end of this month/early May but if you're accepted on Gateway that you are accepted. So, I've been waiting until the 24-hr mark to log in again. Did this happen to anyone else?
  10. Does anyone know the number of applicants this term and the total class size? Looking back on my notes, I have 250+ applicants and 40 accepted but wanted to know of this cohort specifically.
  11. Thanks for the info @jil89! It has been forever since I applied for financial aid because I'm old lol! Yes, I would choose SFSU over UCLA and USF but that is just me. I am hoping and praying I get in. But, it is your personal decision and you have to do what is right for you!! My opinion is based on what I've read and the advice given to me by the Nurse Practitioner I volunteered for at UCSF. Apparently, the CNL position is not visible in hospitals nor really known of at all. This really floored me when I asked someone I respected and who I know is highly respected in the #7 hospital in the country and she had a puzzled look on her face and shook her head. Because it is a generalist, you essentially will be an RN and when you're ready for a management role who knows if one would be available. The only place who really seems to be on board with the CNL position is the VA Hospitals. I want to be a CNS and have a specialized area - this is also considered an APN which a CNL is not considered. SFSU does still have their preceptor program for the GMSN. I made sure to ask A LOT of questions about it. It was just eliminated for the BSN. You can look at the 3 years several ways. It will be nice to have summers off to recharge and possibly work. I received my CNA a month ago and hope I might be able to work over the summers which would just prepare us more for when we do hit the floor as a nurse. I am from the LA area, went to UCLA as an undergrad so yes, the traffic has gotten absolutely ridiculous! But, yes, UCLA is an amazing school and a beautiful campus and a highly respected program so I see how you may be torn. I also think that the cost of SFSU is absolutely a steal! for the education you are getting. Having taken some pre-reqs at the school, I know the quality of the teaching and would be happy to attend and I attended both Berkeley and UCLA as an undergrad so my benchmark is high. I also don't want to graduate with a huge amount of debt. You can read a lot on all nurses about the CNL role versus the CNS if you search. This may be helpful to you! Anyway, would love to know your thoughts too!
  12. @fancyeyes yes, USF is incredibly expensive and that scares me! @jil89 that would be awesome! Your wait list position is great - you will for sure get into UCLA. What is your first choice? I also applied to an MSM ABSN program though my priority is to get an MSN. I just wanted to cover all my options. I was waiting to apply for financial aid until I knew where I was attending. Did I miss a deadline?
  13. Sorry, I SO did not mean to be insensitive and I apologize if it came across that way. I just equate my wait list position to a rejection. I feel very sorry for those of you still waiting to hear. It is a relief to at least know; I'm just disappointed. Hopefully, everyone today will be notified because it sounds like they were shooting for this Friday and I agree, the way it was done in past years was much better! Fingers crossed for those of you still waiting. You could be in the acceptance pile that ------------ hasn't notified!
  14. Exactly!! It's absurd just like this whole process. I guess the good thing is that it's turned me off to the program entirely.
  15. Hope everyone is faring well! SFSU is my #1 choice and of course the school that notifies way later than everyone else it seems! I asked and they said that they received 120 applications and are still accepting only 20 students which puts the acceptance rate at 16.7% which is very competitive. I really want to get a degree as a CNS so I am holding my breath. I found out today that I was waitlisted at UCLA (ie. will not get in because the # is so high) AND that I was accepted to USF on the same day soooooooo, needless to say, I want to hear from SFSU already!! Has anyone else received acceptances and is holding out for this decision? Would love to hear from others!! And, good luck to everyone!
