SFSU ELMSN Fall 2023

Published

Hi everyone,

I just submitted my application to SFSU's ELMSN program for fall 2023. I didn't see a thread for this, so creating one here if you'd like to share your experiences, updates, and decisions! Based on the previous thread for fall 2022 it doesn't seem like we will hear from admissions until April. Best of luck to everyone!

Nvm I ended up making a FB account and sent a request to the group, it's under the name Joey. Wanted to give a heads up bc my profile is blank.

Hey, congrats on being admitted!

A reminder to waitlisted folks: you could still be offered a seat. I had given up pretty much any hope and just got offered a seat. I encourage you to think about your plan if you don't get in.

While I was trying to reroute educational plans, I learned some things I wanted to share. I noticed that most other schools applications open after August. So not knowing if you got in here won't hold you up. Because you have a prior non-nursing degree, a good option local would be Accelerated BSN programs. These are all the ABSN programs in California - https://hpa.ucdavis.edu/sites/g/files/dgvnsk4121/files/inline-files/ABSN Programs in California Rev.11.28.pdf

Also other local entry-level masters programs besides this one are at UC Davis, UCSF, Samuel Merritt and USF.

Such a good post! University of San Diego also offers a MSN.

Are TEAS exams required for SFSU's 2024 ELM program?

I have BA in Criminal Justice and I fall short with one prerequisite left to do this fall due the SFSU's ABSN program changing from Summer to Spring now super recently.  I thought I would check out the ELM program too!

Yes, it could be worth exploring. It is 3 years long but the cost is reasonable and you are a CNS with an MSN at the end of it.

Another important difference between elm and ABSN programs is that elm is at the SFSU campus and the ABSN program is at the college of San Mateo.

I'm from TX, but I saw that the requirement is to be a CA resident OR qualify for in-state tuition. Do you know how this works? My significant other lives out in SF and I plan on moving here if accepted, but IDK if I'm even eligible to apply.

Hi redpandaluv,

Honestly I am not too sure, but I would say to claim your residency here actually in San Francisco, CA.  I just think if you plan to go to school and live here it would be overall cheaper and more convenient for you.
