  1. Hello! I am an entry level masters student at San Francisco State University. After I graduate the ELM program, my plan is to work as a psyche nurse then enter a PMHNP program. I currently work as a counselor at a psyche residential home. SFSU offers an MSN in psyche, but not a CNS - only peds and adult/gero can get a CNS. My declared specialty is Adult/gero. I'm wondering if I should change my specialty to psyche or if getting a CNS would in adult/gero would be more beneficial because it will help me get into a PMHNP program or some other reason I don't know about yet. Some of my instructors and advisors say CNS is important, and others say it's not. What are the reasons someone might want to get a CNS? Thank you! Eve
  2. Another important difference between elm and ABSN programs is that elm is at the SFSU campus and the ABSN program is at the college of San Mateo.
  3. A reminder to waitlisted folks: you could still be offered a seat. I had given up pretty much any hope and just got offered a seat. I encourage you to think about your plan if you don't get in. While I was trying to reroute educational plans, I learned some things I wanted to share. I noticed that most other schools applications open after August. So not knowing if you got in here won't hold you up. Because you have a prior non-nursing degree, a good option local would be accelerated BSN programs. These are all the ABSN programs in California - https://hpa.ucdavis.edu/sites/g/files/dgvnsk4121/files/inline-files/ABSN Programs in California Rev.11.28.pdf Also other local entry-level masters programs besides this one are at UC Davis, UCSF, Samuel Merritt and USF.
  4. I also applied under gerontology. Good luck, I hope they offer you a space.
  5. That's great! I got it too! and I had totally given up hope!
  6. Thanks to @Pink77 for telling me about your conversation with the person that told you all the spots were filled in this cohort, and @Bubbbleeel10 for your encouragement and opinion based on your previous experience, and @ALcamp135 for the 411 on that Google form. I don't think it's going to happen and it's OK. I'm transitioning mentally. I know alot of people are in the same boat as I am.
  7. On the last page a person who got admitted said that out of the 20 admitted only 12 had signed up. I don't know if that person you spoke with meant that everyone from one concentration accepted or if she meant all concentrations. It would be so nice to know our chances, so we could plan our lives, but maybe we just end up waiting until August 18!
  8. I would love career counseling. I am still applying for nursing programs however, not a nurse yet. California's schools are so impacted. I need in navigating my education. I have a non-nursing degree, am older and don't have time to make the mistakes you've highlighted.
  9. Wow, so frustrating! I had no idea that concentration is a criterion. I thought if you are #6 for example, and 6 of the 20 accepted don't take the offer then you get in. I thought I had a very good chance, but now not so sure. Thanks for sharing!
  10. You will know by August 18 at the latest. If you want to confirm your status as "waitlisted" then log into your SFSU gateway https://gateway.sfsu.edu/ . You'll see your name on the homepage as "waitlisted". They should have emailed you about creating a gateway account when you applied.
  11. Thanks so much ?
  12. Thank you for providing the sign up number. Has the sign up number increased?
  13. RIGHT?! I would not have applied. In fact one reason I chose to apply to the ELMSN program was because it I perceived it to have better odds than the ABSN and BSN programs. Thank you for sharing how many people have committed, it's very helpful. I'm excited! Hopefully we'll be classmates ?
  14. Good to know about the portal status change. I got on the waitlist! at a very decent number so I might actually be offered a spot. We have beat very tough odds, though not as bad as rumored on this thread, it was still 400 for 20 seats, that's like an ivy league school!
  15. OH OK haha... Now I get it. I think I'm just going to chill! I'll find out eventually!
