Seriously?!

My new school-of-choice wants my HIGH SCHOOL transcripts? I'm 39. I have a BA. Doesn't that supercede HS records?

My school closed 20-something years ago. I was one of 5 in my graduating class. How on earth am I supposed to find those records?

They said they may be able to take my diploma and just use that, but seriously. WTH?!

What, like, he's going to sneak his way into a yoga degree without being a HS grad? FPS, what is wrong here?!

Haha.

My hubby wanted to take a yoga class with me at our local cc.

But- the college wouldn't let him in without his hs transcript. Like other posters here, he has a PhD. It was so much hassle, we finally just said screw it.

OK, you win. That's a screwier story than mine! LOL

Where is the common sense here? Running away screaming, apparently. :chuckle

I thought the same thing when I was applying. I even had to go get my shot records from my high school even though I'm attending the same university where I got my bachelor's degree. They got my shot records and transcript the first time around, why do I have to do it again? Oh, and ACT scores! I had to pay $24.50 to give them my ACT scores and had to do some serious research to figure out what month and year I took the ACT so that I could tell ACT what month to look for! AGGHHHHH being old is hard.:chuckle:chuckle

yes that's standard ... i know it's crazy... mine were harder to get , i went to a private HS in upstate NY and 10 years later the school closed down so i had some digging to do.. i finally got them and gave a copy of my diploma and my transcripts to the school and kept several copies for myself.... they also wanted a copy of my SAT from 10 years ago and that was easy to get..... i was surprised i did better on it than i thought....

buy it was worth it.... i was accepted into the program.. and now i' a RN ...

I think this rule is a pain in the neck. One of the schools I am applying to also requires a HS diploma. I am 37 and have graduated from college (a while ago!) and have had a job. I have had the same responses as mentioned above- common sense, yeah, I was expecting them to use some - really.

They told me that it was state law--the school needed proof that I graduated from HS before I could enter an RN program...neverminding that, like you, I had a BA and then some. :banghead: But whatever...

I laughed out loud TWICE during the enrollment phase of my entry into nursing. Like you, they wanted my HS transcripts. OK then. I'll see if people still know how to use microfiche. ("What's microfiche?" says the kid in the admissions window)

The 2nd time was when I had to list a "guardian" on some paperwork for a payment plan for tuition. I left it blank. Was told "you have to list your parent or guardian, sir".

"I don't have a guardian, son. I'm old enough to be your father.", quoth me. Removed my cap and showed him my gray 'do and everything.

He kept insisting, till I finally told him to go get a staff member older than 19. His boss came up, and LOLed with me, marked a big X across that field of the application, and I went home.

Talk to someone else there...like THE registrar.

Asking for a high school diploma when you can prove a BA is an oxymoron. Your college would have verified that when you attended, otherwise you never would have gained admission.

A copy of your high school diploma with maybe a statement from your county school system that yes, the school did once-upon-a-time exist, should be legal proof enough.

If it's good enough for the federal gov't, it should be good enough for them.

Understand that if you are attending an ADN program, those office workers get "locked" into a certain mentality and just know how to rattle of policy without knowing the real reason behind it.

That is why you need to talk to the Registrar and if they have a problem with it, talk to someone above him/her.

I guarantee you won't have to produce it.

PS: Your college may have a copy of your high school transcripts as part of your permanent record...but I really don't think after you go through the chain you'll have to produce them.

Ask them to quote you the statute b/c I would wager it doesn't exist.

That is why you need to talk to someone other than the $8 an hour office worker.....who probably doesn't have anything more than a high school diploma themselves.
