My new school-of-choice wants my HIGH SCHOOL transcripts? I'm 39. I have a BA. Doesn't that supercede HS records?
My school closed 20-something years ago. I was one of 5 in my graduating class. How on earth am I supposed to find those records?
They said they may be able to take my diploma and just use that, but seriously. WTH?!

My school wanted the same thing. I'm 40 and I also have a BA.
You may be able to get a copy of your transcript from your County Board of Education. That is where I got a copy of my transcript. The County Department of Education is required to keep these records.
I hope this helps.
P.S. I kept a copy for myself, just in case....

You might see if the school you got your BA from has the HS transcript in your file. Most colleges require them.

44 here with a BA...luckily I went to a public school and was able to contact the main county office. Good luck.

I had the exact same problem with one of the schools I applied to. I'm 50 and I have a Ph.D., for crying out loud! I did finally get my high school transcripts, but it took about 4 weeks. I had this mental image of a secretary holding a flashlight, going down a long, winding flight of stairs, pushing open door after door, finally opening the door to the storage room. CREAK! She goes over to an ancient file cabinet, jiggles the handle on it and pulls out an tattered file. When she blows the inch of dust off it, a bat flies away.
Sorry, I guess I'm in a Halloween frame of mind.
Hopefully, either your college has a copy of the transcript, or they will accept your diploma as proof. One of 5, eh?

Yep, that's crazy!
None of the schools around here require proof of high school graduation for people with an AA or higher. One did require high school transcripts if we took beginning algebra in high school. I used a more advanced math class instead and hoped for the best, because otherwise I'd have to get a copy of my middle school transcript! (Not my first choice school, or I'd have been a little more diligent about finding out)
The counselor said the diploma was okay and told me to expect a letter of acceptance, so I guess it worked. Woo!

Thank goodness for someone exercising some common sense. I had to do the same. I have an BS in Management and they wanted HS transcripts. The arguments of, “wouldn’t a college transcript confirming my degree be enough evidence that I graduated from highschool?” wasn’t a valid argument. “We have experienced students stating they graduated, but when the background check was done, it was found out the student lied”. Uuummmmm, okay. What about a diploma? No, it needed to be a transcript. I am glad to hear someone who made the decision that your diploma served as proof that you graduated from high school, not that your undergraduate transcript didn’t serve the same purpose, right?

I am sorry, Dr. AtomicWoman, but until we receive your high school transcripts, we are unable to verify that you actually graduated from high school and that is one of our policies. "You're right Mr. Admissions, I didn't graduate from high school. I dropped out in the 10th grade and enrolled at a local community college. I then continued my studies at a local university where I earned a terminal degree. How ironic, my dissertation was on, "dropping out of high school and still obtaining a PhD". Just so that I can meet the admission requirements, do you know of any "fast-track" GED programs?" :banghead: :wink2::wink2:
Sorry...I had to do it. I understand policies, but my goodness, have we all forgotten how to use common sense? If your file was audited, can't I argue the fact that you have a terminal degree and therefore it is safe to say you graduated high school?

LOL! Thanks for the laugh!
To make matters worse, my state's BON specifically states (in the regs. posted on their website) that graduation from an accredited college can serve as evidence that the person graduated from high school! So much for that nursing school's argument that "the board of nursing requires" the school to obtain a high school transcript. At some point, I stopped banging my head against the wall and just contacted my old high school for the transcript. I wound up not accepting that nursing school's offer of admission, anyway.

If I'm good enough to get an official transcript, doctor it to state that I graduated with a degree, SEND IT FROM THE SCHOOL WHERE I GOT MY DEGREE, and get through NS, I figure I deserve my degree. I mean, that's dedication, no?

Haha.
My hubby wanted to take a yoga class with me at our local cc.
But- the college wouldn't let him in without his hs transcript. Like other posters here, he has a PhD. It was so much hassle, we finally just said screw it.
