September 2008 support group!

Published

Hi everyone..

I just scheduled my exam awhile ago and finally taking it this September 15, 2008.

I was looking for the September 2008 Support Group and found their is none in existence so i figured to start one. :D

I am currently on Saunder's 4th Ed. and some other references like, Exam Cram, Illustrated Study Guide for the NCLEX-RN Exam, Prioritization, Delegation Assignment by Linda LaCharity and other Q and A books by Saunder's and Mosby.

But i am focusing more on Saunder's, i just like to have other references to understand topics which i am weak in.

I wasn't a very good student before or wasn't that much focus with my studies while in school. That's why i am very anxious now with my upcoming exam.

Now I am giving my best in my review and hoping and praying that i may pass it on the first try.

I really want and dreampt of becoming an RN and finally i am a test closer to becoming one.

Good Luck to us and God Bless.

you have to do what works for you. A I mentioned earlier I did many different sources and focused on the core content. With two weeks to go do you know your labs, airborne droplet and contact precautions, signs & symptoms of disorders, meds and most of their side effects, interventions for actual and potential problems, immunizations, burns, math problems etccc? because now is the time to see what your deficient areas are and work on them. If you knwo yourself and feel good about it, then do it!! remember this is a very individualized test, therefore what works for me may or may not work for you. know your core stuff and have faith!! You can do this

:specs:

I'm taking the NCLEX-RN on September 10th... It seems from reading this thread that most people (I may be mistaken) seem to have scheduled their NCLEX to allow for a month or more of studying. I made A's throughout school and am a good test taker. I finished school this past August, so I'm not long out of the classroom. I've given myself 2 weeks to study (I've just been doing NCLEX review questions daily). I took a NCLEX predictor test and scored in the superior range (without studying), so I figured 2 weeks of study time would be enough. After reading this I'm wondering if maybe I should study more? Any advice?

hi there.. when i was a student, i didnt do well in school. i was a slacker and didnt study as much. i got mostly average grades. FOr that reason, i gave my self 6 months to study because i missed out a lot in school.

I guess every individual is different. 2 weeks would be enough if you feel like its enough. Only the person who's taking the test I think would know if they are ready or not.

:D

2 days more to go for me!!!!

i Hope ill find out soon if i pass or not.

I am not going to use the computer tomorrow because i want to rest my eyes a day before my exam.

I'm taking my test in TX for the THIRD time tomorrow at 2PM instead of the 8AM slot since I'm not a morning person. I've been using the www.learningext.com site and Saunders. The first time I took the NCLEX, I attended the Kaplan course but it was mostly test taking strategies and I needed a lot of content review. I'd graduated almost 5 yrs ago! Anyway, I failed with 75 questions.

The second time, I attended a few sessions of comprehensive review but it was more for nurses that had cases with the BON and had their license revoked or suspended. I failed with 265 questions.

I am kind of freaking out but I sure am grateful to read I'm not the only one with these insecurities! Wish me luck and put me in prayers? I'll post my results in a few days...

I just schedule my exam for Sept 22 at 8am. I wish I could just take it tomorrow and get it over with, but I want to give myself these next couple of weeks to study more for insurance.

I'm so nervous, but trying to remain positive.

I can't wait until this is all over.

you will do great!!!!!!!
