Hi! Just starting a thread for all students applying to the SSC/UCF BSN concurrent program for Fall 2011. Best of luck to you all!
Thanks everyone!! I was at work when they called but luckily I wasn't doing anything so I could answer. I was jumping up and down and my manager was like "wait till you get off the phone to jump up and down!" haha. They sent my acceptance packet this morning! So now I will be running around trying to catch up. I'm sooo excited!!!
I'm confused a little about the uniforms...I'm going to go to Uniformity tomorrow to try everything on and get what I can, but on the Meridy's website after entering the school ID, are we supposed to buy everything that it lists? Or just the uniform?
Here is where it gets confusing: You can only get the polo shirt (which is your lab uniform) from Uniformity and you can only get the Clinical Shirt from Meridy's. Meridy's does have the pants and the warm up jacket just as Uniformity does (that's why you see those listed there when you put in the school code). I was told that at one time they used to have the entire uniform available at Uniformity but the uniform committee did not like the clinical tops that Uniformity had available when they changed the uniform (I like the old uniform better so the change was not an improvement) so they chose the Clinical shirt from Meridy's instead. You can get all of your other equipment (i.e., stet., penlight, etc.) from where you please. Hope that helps...
Thanks, that does help...I've also heard the clinical top runs big? I'm really skinny and usually wear an XS, but they have an XXS available as well...which size would be better? Also, there's other supplies listed on the Meridy's website besides the uniforms, like scissors and goggles and stuff, do we have to get those too?

Coffeecrazy4,
I got all that other stuff at Uniformity. They have a Seminole State list they go by to know what you need. I even got a purple matching stethoscope and BP Cuff. They have a cool pen light for checking eyes that has a cheat system on the side. Cool stuff there. Just FYI, they have a stethoscope there that is made by MFR, very comparable to the Littman Classic. I paid around $65, and I can hear out of it very well. A guy who used to make parts for Littman started MFR company, so I figured what the heck? They have various colors. They basically will have EVERYTHING you need except the Clinical top.
Just my ....lol

Thanks! I'm excited to hear about the purple stethoscope, that's my favorite color and I was hoping I would be able to get one :)

Best way to do it is to measure yourself according to Meridy's instructions and go with that instead of just based on the size... they are really big!!!
Don't go crazy buying all kinds of things that you may not need... The only things we have used so far (I am in my second semester now) is the stethoscope and the penlight and the BP cuff for practice at home. I haven't even used the scissors yet and I hated carrying the stupid clipboard around during clinicals so I left it home and it is now collecting dust.
Just curious....did anyone else get their email from D.D @ UCF with all the forms attached? Wow! Needless to say, I was like oh my word...they mean business. I'm kinda scared of the program now! I will work very hard and just give it my all and hope for the best. That's all we can do.
Jacksonleo I know you have already given us some advice, but I'm sure you know the email that I speak of..is it really as bad as they make it seem???? Don't get me wrong, I'm not nieve enough to think it will be a piece of cake, but are they just putting fear in us to make us come in dedicated and motivated from day 1 or is it really as difficult as they make it sound?
Thanks!!
OMG, I got the email. LOL!! My nerves are already frazzled, and now this?!?!? Now, I'm not afraid of a challenge, and I know this will be the hardest thing I have done to date. I'm ready to hit the ground sprinting! I will admit, that email did make me even more nervous though. LOL I just had a blank expression on my face after reading it.
