So I know most major seeds than can cause anaphylaxis with a seed allergy. There's sesame, poppy, flax, and sunflower. What about mustard, buckwheat? Etc.? Can you share your knowledge with me please! Also oils that are a big no no for seed allergies!!

I have a student allergic to fennel seeds.
ETA: He's also allergic to sesame, which is what he had anaphylaxis with. The fennel was a blood test finding.

I always ask parents to have the doctor list out which seeds. Usually "all seeds" isn't actually every seed.

I learned a new thing today! Seeds are a thing. Wow. I would love to see the allergy report.

Then you've never had really good rye bread. The best kind has fennel seeds in it.

Rye bread here has caraway seeds in it, but fennel seeds are in Italian foods like sausage and in a lot of Indian foods. I do have a friend who is allergic/intolerant of mustard in all forms (GI distress). As far as I know he only has the one seed allergy, no cross-reactivity.

On a semi-related note, there is works within the FDA to mandate the labeling of sesame on any food that contains it. So, instead of a "top 8 allergen" list, there will hopefully be a "top 9" list soon.

Doesn't rye have caraway seeds? Fennel seeds are a licorice or anise flavored seed used in sausage and a lot of Italian dishes.
