Seattle University DNP 2020 Cohort (RN or APNI)

Updated:   Published

I didn't see any content here on Allnurses regarding the 2020 cohort for Seattle University's APNI-DNP program so I will start one here. Anyone else applying?

I also received an invite to interview. I don't know if I'd say I'm a super competitive applicant (business background) so if you haven't heard yet, don't take it as bad news. From what I gather, they are really taking the time to read through applications and intentionally invite each interviewee. Pmhnp in case my username didn't give it away ?

anyone got an interview for the CNM track?

Congrats to everyone who have gotten interview! Do they offer you to do webcam interview?

@SSNP I got an interview for CNM!!! ?

@Kaiser They offered to do it over the phone for folks who are out of state!

I just go an interview for the CNM! so nervous

Does anyone know how many open slots they have?

Or any idea of the types of interview questions.. 25mins for the interview sounds super short to me.

Thank you guys for the kind words:)

Also, congrats to all receiving an interview invite, and hang in there to those still waiting!

I asked the APNI 2019 cohort for some interview advice and received some helpful responses if you guys want to take a look at that for reference.

I am interviewing Saturday, February 1!

Hi @edilaaay! I'm in the CNM APNI program right now (currently avoiding studying for psych theory as a matter of fact...)

The CNM interviews weren't too terrible. Our faculty is super kind, and really just want to know about you. Make sure you understand what a CNM really is (as opposed to other types of midwives and OBs) and the scope of practice for an ARNP. Other than that, be ready to talk about experience you have supporting people, in whatever capacity that means for you! We're all about the nursing role here, and a big part of that is building other people up. ?

Our midwifery track has 13 people this year. It's definitely one of the most competitive tracks (second to FNP) because there are so few CNM DNP programs in the country. We have people from all over!

Good luck! You'll do great!

Hi guys, I'm new to the thread. I also applied for the CNM. Haven't heard back about an interview. Did those of you who have gotten an invite to interview send your app in way before the deadline? I'm wondering if I'll be one of the last to hear because I put in my app the day it was due.

Also, @Isla should I be worried if I haven't been invited to interview when others in my speciality have? Thanks in advance.

@ChemGirl713 don't worry too much! I didn't interview until March, and lots of people were interviewing during the big snow storm in February. However... They only inform you via a single email, and last year multiple interview invite emails just never made it to recipients (including me). So, if February 15th roles around and you've heard nothing at all, it's worth finding someone to check in with, just to make sure you didn't miss an email or something. Honestly, getting info to students is not SU's strong suit! ?

Just got an interview invite for FNP! Looks like we have the option to interview on 2/1, 2/8 or 2/22

To those that are interviewing and live out-of-state, do you think the quality of your interview will be affected by choosing to do it over the phone? I've always thought that meeting in-person is best and allows you to connect more with your interviewers.

I'm contemplating whether I should fly-in for the day.

Hey! I reside in CA, but am choosing to fly in for an interview. i’m not too far away from seattle but i think being in person is the best way to get a feel of a person. Where as a phone interview is limited in my opinion. If i lived further then I do, i would probably consider a phone interview, or if i couldn’t take time off/ couldn’t afford a flight. i would really consider flying in for an interview if you are able. But i’m sure you’ll do great regardless ?

i’m interview feb 8! hope to meet some of y’all.
