Seattle University DNP 2020 Cohort (RN or APNI)

Updated:   Published

I didn't see any content here on Allnurses regarding the 2020 cohort for Seattle University's APNI-DNP program so I will start one here. Anyone else applying?

@Saf123 RN-DNP applicants are more than welcome to post ? I apologize for that since I created this topic for everyone to chime in on; I should have added that all DNP applicants were welcome ?

Hello @kmd1005,

We made the change for you per your request. ?

Greetings everyone! Just a quick update, I was able to get the title of this thread changed to "Seattle University DNP 2020 Cohort (RN or APNI)" - special thanks to @sirI for the help ?

Thank you guys for the kind words:)

Also, congrats to all receiving an interview invite, and hang in there to those still waiting!

I asked the APNI 2019 cohort for some interview advice and received some helpful responses if you guys want to take a look at that for reference.

I am interviewing Saturday, February 1!

@rachel.leone Hi! Just wanted to see how your interview went today if you can share anything? ?

@kmd1005 When SU changed up the interview schedule I chose a later date...so now I am interviewing Feb 7!

As soon as I am done I will let you know ?

When are you interviewing??

@rachel.leone Oh gotcha! all good ? I'm interviewing Sat Feb 8 at 9am the morning (this was the first available one and I just had to snag it haha) and its for the Adult-Gero track. I'm prepping as best I can as we speak haha. I'm curious if this is a panel interview, 1:1, etc. or does it depend on the track?

@kmd1005 I am also spending this week preparing! I think it depends on the track, but from what I gathered there will be at least two in the interview.

I can reach out after my interview Friday and give you any advice that I feel would be helpful:)

Good luck with your prep!

Hi all,

I am a current FNP student at SU in the APNI year and I started this last June. I want you all to know that they do interviews in batches so don’t give up hope yet! I got an interview request with many others on March 1st of last year. Many received requests for early February so I of course was nervous.
The great part about getting it later is I got an interview within 1 week, and three days after, received my acceptance. Such a quick turnaround compared to those that had early interviews. Keep hoping, I know a friend that got in days before the quarter started from the waitlist, so anything is possible!

As far as interview prep, I remember them asking how the vision and values of Seattle University align with your career goals, and they wanted to hear stories about your healthcare experience. They want to hear from people that know what they are getting themselves into! I also interviewed with only one person, but it sounds like the normal is 2+. Good luck everyone!

@ttop2011 I applied this year for the APNI FNP program as well! Already interviewed. I'm thinking ahead a bit, but are there any tips you'd give oncoming APNI students? Perhaps something you didn't expect your first year into the program?

I would say it is definitely a lot of work, but very rewarding so far. One thing that is surprising is the what we are able to do at clinical sites. It is a lot of observation and less hands on than I was expecting. They also are working on many potential changes currently, so we have had to work on our patience this year for sure.

Hi @ttop2011! Thanks for sharing your experience as an applicant and as a current APNI student ? I know you're in the FNP track, but would you or do you know if the experience is similar with those on the Adult-Gero track? I'm jumping ahead here myself, but can't help but be curious too. thanks in advance!
