Seattle University BSN applicants 2012

Published

Hi all,

I didn't see any threads for Seattle University, so I thought I would start one. What classes are you taking, current GPA, extracurriculars, etc? Any thoughts on the application process?

I guess I will start by saying that I am currently finishing 2 prerequisites. Currently my overall GPA is 3.3 and pre-req GPA is a 3.9. I'm starting a CNA program, so hopefully that goes well. My overall GPA is low, so I am worried about that.

I am SO nervous just thinking about it!!

Weird....I was just on the phone with admissions and they said they had not mailed notifications yet.

I have a feeling we will be hearing VERY SOON. On the SU page there is an RSVP page for New student Open House. This includes both freshman and transfers which includes tours of the Nursing Clinical Performance Lab...

See the following link: Seattle University - ASOH Details

Will be diligently checking my mail now

I was told also that letters had not been sent yet, how could someone already have received there? Do they pick and choose what they tell people or do they send acceptance letters out before rejections? I am very concerned and worried now! They won't give you any information of whether you are accepted over the phone.

after looking at su's website again for transfers it says verbatim "

regular decisions will be

mailed the first week of march, 2012." now the assumption is that it applies to "regular" admissions, not specialty schools admissions; but to go along with that, the open house sign up deadlines are march 28 and april 11 which would give us only one option for the asoh (if in fact we receivce our letters in late march early april). they do state that the nursing clinical performance lab will be available for tour during both open houses. i guess we will just have to sit here, ponder and have 3 cvas and 2 stemis while we are waiting...

I spoke with Justin at Undergrad admissions this morning at 10:30 and he confirmed that letters have NOT been mailed. If you are a transfer student to SU's nursing program then expect your letter at the end of the month, even potentially early April. They had a large pool of applicants and are behind in the decision process.

Thanks cassi001, I was really getting worried like everyone else. Can anyone confirm that they received 500 applications this year? I heard through the grapevine, but that seems like a huge number, especially since UW didn't get even that many.

Sorry for the late reply everyone, but I did get a letter that was dated March 2. It says "Congradulations on your admissions to the Seattle University! After reading about your many accomplishments, the Admissions Committee believes you will make a valuable contribution to the SU community. Therefore it is my pleasure to offer you acceptance for Fall Quarter 2012 to pursue the Bachelor of Science Nursing degree.

I am a Running Start student at Whatcom Community College, so I haven't even graduated from high school yet but will this June. I will also be getting my Transfer degree and begin nursing this fall. My prerequisite GPA is 4.0 and a 3.94 overall. I have worked as a CNA for 7 months at a Nursing Facility. I have also done many job shadow with NP's, M.Ds, BSN, RN, LPNs..ect,

Now about the letter, now that I am reading it over again, maybe this is not the actual program admission? But why did they mention starting in the fall to pursue the BSN degree?

Oh also, yesterday I received an invitation to the OPEN HOUSE they are having. Is anyone going?

Kasko; That was really impressive for a runningstart student. You have done amazingly for a highschool student. You show dedication, intensity and smart character all desirable for RN. Keep it up and congratulations. If you applied to other schools, dont be suprised if they all accept you into their programs. You show a promising future. Keep it up and all the best. :)

Immystic thank you for the encouragement:) I have tried hard and hope it pays off. Cant wait to hear back from UW!

Newbie here! I talked to admissions advisor Victor Zamora and he informed me they would be mailing out decisions late next week. The anticipation is killing me!

I'm glad we'll finally find out this month! I feel like we've been waiting forever. Congrats Kasko on your acceptance! That's quite an accomplishment, they must have thought your application really stood out for you to get accepted so early.
