Just made some minor changes to site (desktop version)...
We've notice a drop in search activity so we moved the Search function back to the sidebar.
Mark Read and Get Daily are now available in your Account dropdown menu. These features are a favorite of our active members. To enable these options please visit your Account / Settings page.
These changes do not affect mobile users.

Is there still a "What's new" button anywhere?

I suddenly see threads marked with a red ribbon and a green checkmark -- I'm used to the green checkmark indicating I've posted on the thread, but these are threads I haven't posted on. What do these indicators mean? And is there something else now that tells me I've previously posted on the thread?
You should see the What's New button under the main navigation (blue bar).
There are 2 different types of What's New functions...
The 1st is the basic What's New which will list all new posts - from entire site. You will find this on pages that do not have sub-forums.
The 2nd What's New ↩ has an arrow. This will list only the posts in that category. For example, if you click on the Specialties category and click on What's New ↩ the system will only return new posts submitted into this category only.

Thanks for this information.
I had been accustomed to conducting my searches with the magnifying glass icon, and suddenly, I no longer saw that icon last night. Now I know what happened. :)

Same thing happened to me TheCommuter. I even sent a message to the help desk. Finally I did a 'search' on the words 'whats new' and saw Joe's post from yesterday. I didn't see it yesterday...why you ask? because the magnifying glass was gone and i couldn't search for the new posts :) LOL
search now available on tablets (It was missing with latest updates.)

Me too. I hate having to log in to get to the "What's New". I much preferred it on the generic main page.
I suppose it probably relates to the fact that the more we hunt, the more ads we are exposed to....
