Teal blue top and bottoms with the school patch on the left sleeve
Lab coat is white of course with the patch on the left sleeve also
Can anyone explain what the purpose of the lab coat is? It is required that we wear it to and from clinicals but we never actually wear it while we are in clinicals
And yes - we were required to wear it to and from clinicals even in the summer - and let me tell you, a long sleeved lab coat over your scrubs in south Arkansas in August is not the most pleasant thing in the world!

light blue scrubs with a BIG JSU on the left and a white coat with a BSN patch on the left sleeve. And wh have to keep the coat on at all times. When the patient first sees us they think we are docs. So, as far as I can see the coat just causes confusion. Oh yeah, solid white leather shoes, try finding solid white leather shoes for guys that dont look like your grandfathers. THe teachers even told us to buy marching band shoes
bedpan~We are not allowed to wear our labcoat with the uniform, for any reason. The only time we wear them is for community days and when picking up assignments...not sure what's going on there but I know how you feel about the heat.
mrdoc~the lab coat does cause confusion, especially for the male students. lol for your grandfather's shoes...try K-Swiss, they look nice and not funky at all.

We have white scrubs too, they zip up the front, and have light & dark blue piping around the sleeves, with our school patch on the left sleeve. They are scarily reminiscent of the uniform I wore when I worked at McDonald's in the mid-70s, except those were royal/light blue! We also have lab coats, which we only wear for when we do our community clinicals, and to the hospital to pick up our assignments.
I bought a pair of K-Swiss shoes too, and they are working out very well...nice and comfy, and not too "granny" looking.

I think the idea of the lab coat is to keep the uniform underneath as sterile as possible but wouldn't it be worn in the environment where the most microbes are., i.e., the hospital floors?

we have to wear tightie whities as well with a blue school patch on the R sleeve. we have to wear our lab coat over our uniforms when we are assigned to the OR because then we have to wear hospital scrubs and we have to keep them as germ free as possible.

the reasoning behind the labcoat is you put it on when you are outside of the facility, to keep the bugs from jumping on you before you get to clinicals, and to keep the bugs from jumping off when you leave.
