Ok so I have this new grad interview tomorrow and I was told to wear scrubs to shadow a RN afterwards. But I feel uncomfortable with the idea of wearing scubs to the interview, it seems unprofessional to me. But then, if we are all trying to mov things along, do I really want to hold things up by having to change? I was going to buy a new set of scrubs that are a little more professional looking,... Then maybe wear a nice sweater over my top...
What do you think?

Since they told you to wear scrubs, I would. I do, however, like your idea of wearing some nice new ones :)

Call and ask, like you said you dont want to hold them up by changing if they want you in scrubs and you are in slacks and a top...I agree, i would feel weird too, but I would call and ask. Good luck! let us know how it goes!

new, solid colored scrubs....in a color that you have a blazer/suit jacket that would coordinate with if possible.......if the hosp has a dress code ie a part. color, if you could get that and do the above so much the better

Since you were instructed to wear them I don't see an issue.
Thanks for the advice everyone. I got some nice new "perfect pant" dickies scrub bottoms and a dark purple top. I'll let you know how it goes... I am SO nervous!

I'd advise getting a shiny white brand new lab coat and have sparkling white shoes.
Update:
The interview with HR and with the Nurse Managers went GREAT and I got the job:)
Start in June, thanks for the advice.

I don't think they care what you wear anymore. Theres such a shortage. If you have a license and a pulse the job is yours.
Ouch!
