Hi. I'm having a hard time finding good scrub skirts. Seems I can only get them online around here. That's hard because if you don't like it you have to pay to return it and it's costing me money in the long run. I like the slimmer skirts (pencil) and they have to go below the knees. I'm short so what tends to be made to go just below the knees goes much lower on me which I can deal with. Anyone recommend a certain brand? Style?
Also, having a hard time with nursing shoes. Dansko hurt my feel. Anyone recommend a comfortable brand, style for those? ( I also have flat feet as well). I don't like the way sneakers look with a skirt so I need something that goes better with scrub skirts. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Dreaming4acute87. Thanks. I did see that site. I've actually ordered the cherokee on off of eBay and love it. I've ordered more on a scrub site but they are on backorder. Love they way cherokee fit.
I did feel kind of attacked but I guess I must be use to it. People are always trying to tell you their opinion of wearing just skirts. Unless you know the reason and meaning of it no one understands. Wearing skirts have never been a hindrance or unpractical in anyway. I don't judge people who just wear pants.
I am sorry I came off defensive I have just read a lot of anti-religious sentiment recently on this site and I find it offensive and coming from a place of ignorance.
Skirts and scrub dresses are still around. Several nurses in my hospital wear them. I personally have no problem running or climbing on a bed in a skirt and hose.
i see a few nurses in dresses/skirts still (mostly older ones). If people like them or want them, who cares. I don't see them in any stores around here, just online.
I love Alegria shoes, they don't take as much getting used to as Danskos. Also, the sole is wider so I don't feel like I'm going to roll my ankle like danskos. I just bought a pair of Timberlands because pregnancy has caused my feet to swell and Alegrias to not fit so well anymore. I haven't worn them on a shift yet but they feel good so far walking around my house.
When I wore scrubs I wore skirts, because they were just more comfortable, no religious reasons. I had so much trouble finding the "perfect" skirt, so I made a bunch of my own knee-length, poly-blend A-line skirts with a nice wide elastic waistband, some in light blue and some in white. I wore them with compression stockings and Danskos and felt like I had a lot more ROM and was cooler in temp throughout my shift. I even "converted" a couple co workers over to trying it and they loved it! Don't knock it til you've tried it. I love scrub skirts!!

Apparently studies were done as to the source of the pathogens and was determined "shedding" from under nurses scrub dresses was the culprit. As the poster stated this was the era when many women still work stockings and suspender belts, leaving the *ahem* central area "free" (well aside from knickers and or a girdle), thus allowing *debris* to go free and scatter as the nurse moved about."
In light of the above your clinical instructor and or site may request if not mandate you wear something under your skirts.
