Scripps Healthcare New Grad Residency Program 2011, has anyone received a interview invitation?
placentia linda, has some new grad positions open. You got to write a 2-4 page essay for it. I was gonna apply for it but got lazy.Yeah, I'm doing the same... Starting to apply for other positions. I'm starting to get bummed about the interview process for Scripps... It seems that some got a chance at multiple interviews, and other likes me got just one. I even had multiple portfolios ready to hand out, and didn't realize I only had one interview until one of the other candidates suggested I check. It sucks because now that we know there was 65 offers, and didn't have a fair chance to compete for them. I guess with all things, a little bit of luck has to come into play.
Good day everyone!
@ Jojo -You mentioned that Scripps is offering 65 positions, is that from a reliable source? Thanks!
@ Sooperdooper - When is your orientation date at La Jolla? Thanks!
My classmate got an offer late Friday night to work at 4E La Jolla. Her orientation date is 4/11.
Positive thoughts everyone :)

Oh..... jeez. That's quite a blow to my confidence. I'm assuming they hire unit by unit, and I interviewed for 4E La Jolla.
Why must they string me along and still tease me with "Applicant Review" status on the website?
I don't suppose you have any idea how many they were hiring on 4E, Alaska?
*sigh*
Thanks for the support, y'all, but things are feeling grim now. I'll maintain meager hope until my fate's actually set in stone (stone = the almighty Application Status and/or The Email).
I am just starting to get really down on myself. I think that I am a great canidate and I just don't know why I am not selected. This whole process of looking for a job and knowing that your competeing for the spot against hundreds sometimes thousands of applicants is really starting to get to me. Sigh---I am just frustrated. Thanks for letting me vent.

@ Sarah and Kris - I totally understand your anxiety, but don't despair...there is still hope :)
Another classmate of mine who works at Scripps as a PCA received an email from Toni last night saying that they are still making calls and waiting for offers from unit managers. I believe we will be hearing from them by this week (hopefully).
From what I gathered from my interviewer, unit managers are trying to fill up the vacancies left by nurses who got promoted/transferred to ICU, ER, or other units. If they have vacancies in their respective units, this is where the new grads come in. He told me that some applicants may not get their choice as far as the unit we want because the requisition is limited at the moment (e.g. 6E needs 4 staff). Nonetheless, if they like us enough, they will put us in a pool of new hires. From this pool, they will assign new hires to various units whenever the need for staff arises. He said they will try to assign new hires based on their clinical experience (e.g. if you had a preceptorship in cardiac, they would probably put you in med acute and not L&D). He also told me that at that end of the program, he might need more staff for his unit.
I know first hand that waiting and not knowing can be a real draaaaaaaaag, but let's try to stay positive...om om om namaste :)
ILoveAlaska: Thanks so much for this posting. I have been feeling so anxious that I have been decluttering everything in site (not bad as a final result...but egads). I am happy to know that there will be a new hire pool. I personally will be over the moon happy to work in any department...not only the departments that I interviewed. I loved the feel of San Diego. I am trying to keep everything in perspective and stay positive. I know that I am a good candidate and the right job will come along...hopefully sooner rather than later.

Thanks jojonavy. I saw that one too and, like you, decided not to go through with writing the essays. I had just written a lot for the recent Sharp's app that was up a week or so ago.......
