Wow @heyjack that's awesome! When did you interview with them?

Thanks! I interviwed today.

Specializes in CV|OR.

Got the message! Unfortunately I am not active enough to respond to PMs yet :sour: It's great to have options, especially in this competitive market. Let me know what you end up deciding!

Specializes in psych.

Yeah I'll definitely let you know. I can be so fickle that I like having options. One week I'll be like I want to end up being a psych NP then next week it's fnp, so I'm thinking maybe a critical care position would be best and that way I can do anything pretty much after that experience.

Definitely! Have you ever considered becoming a CRNA in the future? The critical care background would open that door for you, too! I also received the official offer letter for the OR internship with Baylor, and surprisingly there is no term agreement. The only stipulations are for new grads that haven't passed NCLEX. It describes how they would be moved into a tech position if they did not pass the first time with the offered base salary, and then if they failed a second time they would have a tech salary. However, there is no timeframe that they would have to stay in the internship. I don't know if it's just for this position, or if the same applies to other internships.

I have considered it before. I just can't see myself doing the schooling for crna or being in the OR for long periods with the gown, mask and hairnet on. I'm surprised there is no term agreement. Thats Interesting about becoming a tech and the salary change for not passing nclex. Are you wanting to do crna later?

I agree with you regarding the schooling...the gowning up doesn't bother me though. The great thing about nursing is that there are so many areas to choose from if/when boredom strikes. I knew in my first semester of nursing school that I wanted to do perioperative nursing. Floor nursing never interested me, but it's been a great experience to have under my belt. I'm only 25 and feel like I'm getting burnt out already! What's a typical shift like for you?

Interviewing for Baylor Irving SICU tomorrow, this'll be my first panel interview. Not sure what to expect but here's hoping for the best!

Does anyone have contact information about those in charge of the Critical Care internship and if they are still interviewing people?

Hello all! Does anyone mind sharing how much Baylor Scott and White offers to new grads? I'll be graduating in December with my BSN and would love a heads up. My friend just graduated in Dec and started at the Baylor in Ft. Worth a couple of months ago, she said her starting pay was 24 and after one year gets a raise to 32. That seems really high, just wondering if it's only that location or does BUMC and other locations offer that too?

What is their starting pay for new grads?

Starting for new grad is 24.50 at all Baylor hospitals, pay may increase based on the time you have worked. Baylor is one of the only hospitals that does not pay based off the specialty you are in, it is all mostly based on the time you put in and whether you have a good standing/evaluation. But also there are night, evening, and weekend differentials as well so you can earn more that way too.
