I have off for the Jewish holidays, but I see by the activity here, some of you are at work.
What holidays does your school honor?

Hands down, my favorite day off is the day before Thanksgiving. That was negotiated a long time ago and we do another day either in the beginning or in June, cannot remember which. Wednesday before Turkey Day travel (especially the Mass Turnpike is HORRIBLE) So to be able to take off at 2:30 on Tues is just fabulous, or to have an extra day of prep is equally amazing!!
See, my husband works Thanksgiving morning until about 10 am, so I don't mind the Wed before (which is a half day for us). The most beautiful easy drive on Thanksgiving itself on the Mass Pike toward 84. It is glorious...

We get all major holidays off except Columbus Day and President's Day. We don't get a Spring Break either. We don't get Jewish holidays off as we have an extremely low Jewish population if any. However we usually get several snow days which are fun to a point. I'm just grateful for the fact I don't have to work holidays anymore and get my summers off. Not many professions get that luxury! Of course we make up for that fact in our wages but it's worth it to me! :)

I have made that drive on multiple holidays and yes, the DAY of the holiday is not bad at all!

In Texas - we get Labor Day, week of Thanksgiving, 2 weeks at Christmas, MLK Day, a week in March for Spring Break & Memorial Day. We have 2 "Bad Weather Make Up" Days - one day scheduled in March or April and the other the friday before Memorial weekend - if we end up having a mild winter we get those days off.
No religious holidays in our area - though students can miss school for religious reasons and it will be excused.

I'm thinking about having my own holiday on Monday. Just don't know what to name it yet.
